Title: Tyres....again!
Post by: wonderboy on January 16, 2007, 19:47:32
I need to replace my Colway AT's.  They keep clogging and dont clear, so there as much use as slicks.  Ive got a 110 with standard suspension.  Im after a mud tyre that can be left on as I dont have the space to store a second set.  They must have decent road manners as I can travel up to 200 miles a week as its my only transport.

They'll also have to be remolds as my budet is tight.

Any ideas?
Also what size?  At the mo i run 265/75R16

Cheers Adam

What about the colway MTs ?  ive got some on my 90 and they are fine on and off road, bit noisey if you run them at a lower pressure but still fine on road.  Also pretty cheap.

Kumho KL71's

good in the rough stuff and seem to have almost road tyre like road manners

i can really chuck my 110 about on wet tarmac and it grips really well, you'll find there much better on and off road than the colways

I've got the macho's and because of the wonderful weather has just fitted them again, road noise is minimal and pretty good on road as well, no more slidding than the AT's I did have on in the wet and very good off road.
Seem to be OK will let you know in a year or so how the fend with Tarmac

people seem to be really impressed with their road manners... going to fit a set to our 110 once we have the important stuff out of the way!

saying that though, the AT's that we have on it at the moment have been incredible.... only got stuck with them in really seriously nasty mud and hellishly deep ruts... ie. bending stuff deep.

The mud arund Norfolk/Cambs is really sticky and the AT's just dont clear.  I end up spinnig all four wheels and getting nowhere.  I think special tracks might be the way forward.

Im off to the indoor 4x4 show at donnington to pick up a winch, so ill see how much they want for them there, and knowing me ill come home with some.

I think my minds made up.  Special tracks it is.  But what size?  265/75/r16 or 235/80/r16?

Ive got standard suspension on my 110.
