Here is the conundrum.
I should have been at work today, but decided to take a day off. Quite legit, I booked it as a days leave, not a sicky.
A mate phoned me and told me all the rest of my 'team' are whinging about me not being there. I know that due to weather conditions they are going to be sat in the office, doing naff all.
I don't moan when they take days off, but being the new boy on the team, perhaps I should show more willing, but part of me says "B*lls to them"
I have just spent the day with my family, I didn't have to rush about getting ready for work, I didn't have to fire the disco up to travel 35+ miles to get to work, I didn't have to cope with the idiots of society and I'm just about to sit down with a nice beer and read a book.
Should I feel guilt pangs?

Of course not. Your day off is all above board and as long as your contract doesn't make you change at short notice, you are entitled to enjoy your day off.
Relax. Chill. Enjoy.

NO!!! not in the least, you're as entitled to your leave/holiday just as much as anyone else, and if they moan and whinge when you go back tomorrow just tell 'em to shove it, hope you really enjoyed your day off with the family.
-
Do you live for the job? If not, then you're totally entitled to take a day off as per your contract. What pillocks.
-
take as much time off as you like as long as it is logit. I used to take 6 weeks off work as unpaid leave in the summer to do voluntary work and everyone at work moaned about that but i worked harder on hols than at work. I enjoy it though.
SO
sod em. Its your holiday and why are they contacting you on your days hols to moan. Tell em to get a life
-

Well mate the answer is no... However to day due to the wind we had 50 ungent calls come in a one and a half hour period!
All early turn officers were held back...I got off 2 hours late, which is not too bad however never got anything to eat all day.
We had 3 HGV's over in one 5 mile strech of the road! and it went on and on and on.........
Hope it wasn't too windy in Hampshire
-
No... certainly not !
One day off with your family could make all the difference....
Ambiguous comment maybe... but time with the family must always come first...
-
We were 'shut' today, electricity was off, do i feel guilty about going and having a few beers instead, hell no
