Any idea why?
-
Nothing OFFICIAL yet then?
Nothing like a good bit of rumour-mongering to put people off a show...
-
that would be a shame cos Kelmarsh seemed to be the good option of the two.
evil forces at work somewhere!
-
Well I had seen it posted on another forum as well. I know Difflock were booked for Kelmarsh.

More dirty tricks?
-
I still aint booking anywhere else yet but I'm sure i saw someone post they had just booked kelmarsh surely they wouldn't be taking bookings if they didnt think it was going ahead??
-
I've heard it from more than one source now, and can pretty much decide that it isnt a rumour.
-
I do hope its not been called off - it was going to be much better than the rather unpromising billing.
-
just had a look on the kelmarsh website
there used to be things on there about the LR show - cant find anything now

Is Kelmarsh the show that was billing last year but now being moved up the road?
-
I'll be waiting for this site to change before thinking it's off:

Has anyone actually spoke to the organisers yet, or just other people who "know". It's not difficult to start a rumour, of course it could be reverse psychology, publicity stunt for Kelmarsh Hall, I hope so!

LRe Show 2007 - CANCELLED
Date: January 22, 2007
The Show at Kelmarsh is cancelled. It would appear that the majority of trade stands who have booked for a July show have chosen to go to Billing and we can't run a show with only a 1/3 of stands that we normally get.
Refunds for those who have already booked for the camping or trade will be processed shortly.

bummer, they've just updated the website since I was on earlier :(
In the words of Victor Mildrew
I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!
Well, I do now, but still, I can't believe the traders would stay put and not move with the organisers, especially with the reasons for moving.
-
So billing is back on but under different organisers?
-
Well i ain't going to Billing (to many bad experience's :( ) so looks like ourgate again!! :? :?
-
Allthough I have been to billing for the last 9 years or so I'm going to vote with my feet (or should that be wheels) and keep clear of Billing, its a shame because it seems the only way Billing will get the idea that they have major problems is for people to steer clear.
-
We wont be going this year then. Was really looking forward to trying out kelmarsh but me and the family are definately not going to Billing again :(
-
How about a Mud Club weekend somewhere?? :D

Well, that's me not attending a show in 2007 then.
I'm another one that will not be going to Billing again, no matter who is running it.

Being new to off roading I was looking forward to going to shows this year - but it sounds from this thread as if Billing is best avoided. Why, what have I missed?
-
Its not best avoided, itsa just peoples personal opinion.
My own opinion is that the news of Kelmarsh being cancelled is the best news so far this year. I'll be at Billing.
-
Nothing mate Billing is a good show for a day out, stopping over is iffy but overall I would say go you will enjoy it..
-
Have made my booking for the farmers feild

Overall layout of the show area to remain largely the same but with modifications

Quote was from the LRM Billing website
I was just wondering if this answers people's concerns. They will need to vamp up security and the toilet/shower question in the showground.

I have a mate that has always gone to billing and he loves it. I do fancy going along for a day but it says above day visitors wont be allowed beyond the car park :( Thats a bit rubbish.
also tyre changing area and only allowed on certain times? I will arrive on muds already on then!!!
Hmm now Im puzzled.

You will have to walk from the car park. As long as it's not a million miles away, it shouldn't be a problem.

For buying wheels/tyres and having them fitted to your vehicle!

So if I want to get the disco all muddy I will need to pay for the whole weekend? If that is the case they can go fly a milion kites.
-
The off road coarse is not on site. I suspect what they mean is day visitors won't be allowed to drive into the camping areas, etc. It's just to limit the traffic movement in the busiest areas.
-
Well after reading all of this forums subject replys, the awnser is very simple. DONT GO TO BILLING, Boycott it and Have a MUD CLUB BIRTHDAY BASH. i think i would have more fun standing in a muddy field with a bottle of vodka and the company of fellow clubbers than go to the Billing Gypsy site \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

It's to stop caravans getting nicked! I don't know about eveyone but I'm a member of the Caravn Club and all thier sites have security for this very reason.
Where's Kellmarsh then?
