Title: splut splut splut
Post by: muddyjames on January 24, 2007, 20:10:17: When I start the disco up these days from cold it idles at 250rpm and will splutter and do nout else until I put foot on the gas and then it comes to life slowly and then idles at 750rpm. Anyone know why?

Post by: bilge rat on January 24, 2007, 23:19:24: not dragging a bit of air in from somwhere is it ?. lift the boot carpet remove the inspection cover for the tank guage/pump and check the pipes that come out of the tank unit. have been known to corrode. alan....

Post by: Pete on January 24, 2007, 23:45:39: Good place to start looking for air leaks is the filter near the back axle, pipes there tend to rust and become porous. Filter body can go the same way.

This should be easy enough as the floor was replaced last summer! are the hoses easy to get hold of and easy to fit? I may as well fit them anyway if I am at it? How far do they go? I know very basic mechanics. If they are sucking in air would they be slowing me down too? If I change them will it run better as in mph, get up and go and mpg?

sounds like metal pipes then :( can they be rubber pipe with a jubilee clip over end of rubber and metal joint or am I being silly?

I have no tools to bed small pipes. bending pipes for copper pipes in a house for a shower for example, I have the tool for but not tiny copper stuff. :(

Post by: ianc on January 25, 2007, 18:06:16: IIRC when Matthew and me did your floor the conectors for the fuel lines at the tank were starting to look a bit iffy. might be worth checking them.

Power too them, and through to all of them

If necessary pull them out and check them individually

Will try and check power side without killing myself!!!
