Got some 2nd hand 16" white spokes, not the tidiest of wheels, but look OK with a bit of paint slapped on....anyhow
When I got them they had tubes in but shot tyres, have put Macho's on and left the tube in, Garaged advised they should have tubes but I'm not sure, and not too sure they knew really.
Did I need to or will they run fine without the tube?
Although I like the idea of being able to fix a puncture with a tube

I'm running 15" white 8 spokes with no tubes, have done ever
since i bought them new 7 years ago.

And I run tubes on 8-spokes on the racer.

Somtimes running with tubes can cause more punctures , if the tyre spins on the rim it can rip the valve area.
if you run without tubes it dont matter.
-
Might pay to have them removed then

Well are the rims tube type or not? surely it says on them..........?

Was at Paddocks a while back when they had 8 spokes on offer. The cheap ones needed tubes and the better/dearer ones were tubeless.
As Jim says they should be marked, usually stamped on inside. If in doubt run tubes, as they came with tubes to me that would be a clue as you dont put them in if you dont need them ££££££

To run without a tube both the tyre and wheel should be marked as tubeless.

Can't see through all the crap on the wheel, best go clean them, and the tyres are tubless, but running with tubes

My tyres are tubeless but my wheels are tube type so i use tubes, its no problem unless the tyres have ridges inside these tend to rub holes in the tube.............

Split rims used to need a tube and also a spat to cover the split. It's more improtant what sort of tyre you have, as rims are usuallu either/or.
Tubeless tyres should never have tubes in them, oftne theinnner surface is patterned and these patterns will chaffe the tube causing punctures. Also the tyre will behhave differently in a rapid deflation or blowout, with a tube it could be unsafe.
Also the heat dissipation will be different.
Tubes only in tubed tyres.
