Looking at this one http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/desktops_better?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs the 469 quid one (2nd one in) what upgrades do you recommend?? Cheers

I'd be interested to know if it's still £469 when you get to the checkout, because in my experience it's often not possible to buy Dell computers for what they advertise them for. I got as far as involving Trading Standards once.
The spec looks fine to me - plenty of RAM and HDD space.

As above, but just tell them thats what you want for that price. Then get some ram from somewhere else.

And their warranties are not worth paying for, that goes for the lot of them. If you put your own RAM in you invalidate their warranty anyway so dont bother with it. You stil have consumer rights if anything does break down.

Looks like quite a decent box, though have had dealings with Dell and not to impressed with the availabilty of parts and warranty help.
On the other hand, have dealings with HP in server and storage on a weekly basis and there warranty backup is second to none, though not sure what the desktop warranty is like, I know HP are a little more expensive, though maybe worth a look.

I got a brand new HP laptop just before christmas and on christmas day it broke, however i phoned them up they sent a courier to pick it up and 6 days later it was back with me fixed. the service from HP was fantastic

good system for 469, they do make it long winded to buy but, it is that price.
sisterin law just got that very one, smart bit of kit.

I've had Dell work laptops for years on Next Business Day warranties and the service has always been perfect.
Now I'm facing a bill for a new laptop only 18 months after buying the last one, I'm going to make sure I get a 3 year warranty.
