Having had one of those "tickets" I'm furious. It is printed on SHINY, NON-RECYCLED paper. They should bloody well look at themselves before they start getting high and mighty with us. I'm sure the magic ticket pixies didn't magic them up out of fluffy bunny breath.....
-
Not that [ed: naughty] again.
-
Why don't they go stick them all over buses then, Have you seen the [!Expletive Deleted!] they kick out...if your behind one your almost choking. Plus their a lot higher and heavier than a 4x4 so in the event of an accident your probably toast if it hits you.
If one of these tree hugging idiots sticks one to my car he better be able to run fast because he will eat every last bit (just so i can say i did my bit for recycling)
With idiots like these plus the labour government lining its own pocket and running the country into the ground we may as well all move abroad.

a standard 4x4 doesnt have a much bigger footprint than the average family car, not much bigger at all, and if we go onto luxury cars i darebet an s class or 7 series has at least the footprint of most! 4x4s.
why do they moan about a mum and 4x4 with kids in ,when i bet they wouldnt say anything to a mum and 1 child in a fiesta or something.
the fact is it is your right to drive what you like as long as you have the relevant legal requirement, tax, mot, insurance etc.
i cannot wait for the day one of them monkeys say somit to me, or stick a ticket on my motor, and int that a gross waste of paper!!!!!!!!!
or is cutting down loads of trees for fake tickets aloud in the environmental world.

"They have very low miles to gallon because they're so large, compared with say sports cars," said co-founder of the group, David Rose.
What a load of utter rubbish! This person is supposed to be a teacher? No wonder the education of the nation is so bad :(
I'm off to buy an 8litre Yankee sports car then - it's obviously better for the environment ....
-
I don't live anywhere near Bristol but this sort of shallow minded attitude some folk have towards others who just drive a 'bigger' car pi$$ses me right off, we should all start a campaign ourselves not to victimise against our own choice of vehicle, the only reason that they are against them is because they probably can't drive them!! My 22 year old Porsche 944 probably spews out more 'environmentally unfreindly' gasses than my disco but nobody complains about that!!

One of hte biggest problems is that American "SUVs" are quite possibly a problem, but then again they're also huge and on the whole not available in the UK. Watch an episode of smallville and you'll see the point, some of those vehicles could probably take a 90 in the boot, they had a discocvery next to one in one show, and the discovery was dwarfed.
If you take the statistics for those vehicles you probably would be able to prove just about anything you like, for example I dare say the pedestrian safety of a challenger tank i slower than a micras (and probably still better than an audi A2 ;))
Standards of eductation asside, most[1] of the teachers I know are several cabbages short of an allotment :)
then again, we live in a world where we're actively trying to reduce crime figures by not prosecuting people
[1] Most, not all, some are lovely .. (hedging my bets here :))

When Clarkson had his new GT40, the GT40's average fuel consumption was four miles to the gallon...
Then, when he tested the H2, it did 5mpg typically. When he put his foot down and used just a bit of the power available the computer display changed to gallons to the mile.

So if they are trying to drive 4x4's out of cities then how about this senario.
I want to go off roading and take my mates from uni who live in the middle of Bristol. They invite me to thier house for the night and the next day go off roading. (hang on a second. That is exactly what I did last year    )
Are thery saying I should park up out side the city and get a bus or train into the city?
They need to shove those tickets where the sun dont shine but I'm sure the sun will shine there soon if a MC person gets hold of em.
Guessing Devil ducks dont stop these idiots?

Is this the same plank that was going to chuck mud over any 4x4 that he saw?
Where do these cretins get off? He probably has to reach for a box of tissues everytime he gets a mention in the press.

That's the fella. I wonder if there is any provision under the discrimination laws to get one at him legally. At the end of the day, he is targeting a segment of the population based on their lifestyle.

From what I understand of the laws in relation to discrimination, it covers:
Race
Religon
Gender
Sexual Orientation
Age
There are probably others, but those are the main ones from what I recall.

Is his phone number still:
David Rose 07817 447 406
Phone him and tell him!

I could think of numerous places to put his number, but I musn't, even though it is so tempting

I think I might attach something along the lines of the following.
To those persons contemplating flying this vehicle, may I take a few moments out of your insanely hectic schedule to ask you a few semi pertinent questions before you do so ...
1) Whilst my choice in vehicles is apparent, do you happen to know what drove my decision to purchase this vehicle ?
2) On that grounds, do you happen to know how many miles it does in a given week ?
3) Do you know for instance whether I wash my clothes at 40 degrees, or 60 degrees, or even wash them at all
4) Do you know how much I earn, or where I went on holiday ?
5) Do I use energy efficient lamps at home, do I turn the heating down and put on a jumper, or do I sit infront of a blast furnace powered by raw kittens
6) Do you even know how many miles this vehicle will do to the gallon? Do you base this on experience, what the manufacturer says, what some propaganda says, or wild assumption ?
7) How much work and money do I donate to charity? which charities ? was I against the war ? do I support use of biofuels ?
8) For that matter, how far would a journey have to be before I'd contemplate using the car rather than walking? a mile, three miles, three feet?
9) What is my name? where do I live ?
10) since you clearly no NOTHING ABOUT ME what in the name of whatever entitiy you worship gives you the right to judge me ?
-
Funny how the press listen to that t**t about vehicle choice when he can't even drive (might have alicence but as he's in his 40s and sat on his a**e being a 'student' he doesn't own a car).
And a rencent study in the 'states shows that large 4x4 are more likely to kill pedestrians (that are too stupid to see it coming) well have you seen how big the yanks have their 4x4? Hummer anyone?
And that's ignoring the fact that Lee Majors keeps driving them through billboards and over jumps etc etc
I keep saying it, if my 4x4 is so b****y dangerous, how come it cost me £380 to insure my 5.0l Range Rover yet it costs me well over £400 to insure my 1.4 litre Micra, even with all my no-claims on the Micra?
Answer, because in this country 4x4 drivers are amongst the safest group of road users.

Just having a wee read thru some of the stuff and on this page (http://www.stopurban4x4s.org.uk/guidelines.htm) it says:
Stick to the big models (see the back of the ticket for a rough list and avoid the little ones like the Justy and Fiat Panda) and make sure you look out for signs of genuine off-road use, such as mud or equipment in the back. We want the farmers who need these things on our side, so try not to annoy them by mis-targeting.
So all we need to do is splash a bit of mud here and there on our trucks and they will leave it alone... Altho i'm sure most of us in here already have this feature (i know i do, and not just a little bit)

are snorkels and winches and rock sliders signs that it goes off road then??? :?

Rose cites the likelyhood of death when hit by a 4x4 as a pedestrian.
He doesn't look at how many lives of drivers and passengers must be saved by being in a 4x4 in the first place, when it crashes in an accident that doesn't involve pedestrians at all.
I bet there are very many more pedestrian-free RTAs than pedestrian-full ones, and therefore more lives to be saved by there bing more 4x4s on the road.
Sell your bicycle clips Mr Rose and buy a 110 - it might save your life one day!
-
Heard on the radio this morning he's been recieving death threats. What did he expect if he put his mobile number on the net
-
Wasn't me, honestly!

I would think so....
