Just seen in the paper that they plan to call an area of about 30 miles around Leeds, Greater Leeds as in Greater London. This would take in several cities such as Bradford etc.
Now if your not a rugby fan this will mean nothing to you but if your a Rhinos fan like me it means you can now sing to the Bradford fans"your just a small town in Leeds"and know it's true.  :D :D

Hi Pete, whilst not having the slightest interest in Rugby I saw this story in the 'Yorkshire Post' (same source as you?)
I don't like it much.
For a long, long, time (hundreds of years) Wakefield was the second most important town in the Yorkshire Ridings (after York)
It's authoritarian boundaries stretched to past Todmorden (in the west) & over to where the new town of Goole is.
No Leeds is the young upstart pretender, it ought to be included in the boundaries of Wakefield

Hi Richard
Now don't get me wrong I don't want Leeds to rule the whole of Yorkshire mate I just want Bradford to be a small town in Leeds  ,is Wakefield a city
-
Yes, Wakefield is a City.
So are;
Bradford (St Peter)~
Leeds (St Peter)
Ripon (St Peter & St Wilfred)
Sheffield (St Peter & St Paul)
York (St Peter)
Wakefield Cathedral is 'All Saints'
Common name for a church then is it Peter??

I didn't mean you personally Pete
I meant the fact that the only Cathedral in Yorkshire not dedicated to St Peter was in Wakefield

Think you were right on both counts mate

Yes I did catch this on the radio this morning, will it really go through
Mind you they've always been just a small town club anyway, where were they all at the Grand Final, certainly could'nt hear them
