Title: Whats my disco worth?
Post by: spy on January 31, 2007, 18:37:30
I am thinking of selling the disco, always wanted a range rover classic and with another years no claims coming up I can finally insure a v8 for reasonable money.

Anyone willing to guess what I should get for the disco?  1991 j (interesting reg J408 SPY) 200tdi 139k, timing belt and water pump 2k ago, safari snorkel, roof rack, 5 MT tyres less than 2k very similar to the kumo MT's and not remould.  Manual no real service history, red none metallic and tatty round the edges.  MOT till december 2007 tax till feb.  Dirty carpets etc, rear speaker covers missing from boot and side facing 6th and 7th seats removed.

So come on, whats it worth?  Any guesses to what it would do on ebay?

There are a couple of things wrong with it, needs a rad (not leaking yet but its pretty rusty) and has a clicking OS CV joint.  Can get the bits for about £150 so was thinking I would fix it 1st.  Would I do just as well mentioning the faults on ebay and not spending my £150?

Unless anyone has an LPG converted range rover they want to swap?

 You will have to change your mud club name then!!!  I'm not up on prices of 200tdi's, V8 Rangie sounds good fun though, I nearly bought a V8 disco with LPG conversion but the tank took up half the boot and the guy said 'it works fine...most of the time!!'  Got some +2" springs and shockers soon for mine hopefully, had a good inspect of the damage after Breiercliffe the other day, chassis has a bit of a dinge in it, 2 x UJ's are now a bit knackered, steering damper was bent, my passenger door is curled round a bit at the bottom, congrats on the baby again, how much you want for it, I have a mate that I took green laneing and he is looking around at the minute?

Some of the prices in LRO are daft.  I wonder how many actually sell at those prices.  I'd estimate about £1200ish for yours, but it just depends who's interested on the day.

That does sound like a bargain!  I was hoping I could get £1200 ish for mine now and maybe £1400 for it fixed?

Am I being unrealistic?  Honest opinions please!

Chris,

Sounds like you had a rough time at briercliffe, the only problem I have is it made me look at the rad which is screwed and I noticed the CV clicking.  Not too bad really.  Do you think your mate could be interested?

Cheers,

Mike

Paid 2500 for my N reg 300! And that's only got two seats and a total of 7 bits of glass, including the mirrors! :P Has just had a recon gearbox mind. Was quite happy with that price after looking at a few others.
