Title: Big Stuff On Ebay!
Post by: MTyrrell on November 02, 2004, 19:32:31
Found this Russian Zil 131 6x6 truck on ebay whilst looking for a 110 Landy.

Hmm what to get, the Landy or the Zill 131  . It's petrol as well, would get to know the local petrol station staff very well. only 722 miles on the clock. I Want One!!

i reckon that to keep this running you dont need a normal gas tank, you need one of the british gas tanks you have in the back of your house for central heating!

You just know you're stuck when one of these pulls you out of the mud.

Don't you Bev? EAOR 2004

That was after two X9 winches through snatch blokes to double the pulling power had failed, and a kanetic (is that how you spell it?) tow rope had snapped.
Stuck for over half an hour, fastened a 20 ton lifting strap on to the winch bumper and on the back of the 6x6 and bingo out she came.
No damage!! could not believe it.

Ah, that was you, was it?? Holding up the traffic     After they hauled you out, I was the next one through. Most people had given up waiting and driven round! The worst bit of all was that it was the only sticky bit on the whole course.

In his defence Steve there were quite a few got stuck there. He was flat bellied out with all 4 wheels hanging in the air. The only way was up.
I reckon the Suzuki was best. Rolled on its side. They clambered out and shoved it back on its wheels and off they went.

I only arrived late Sunday morning, so missed most of the fun! I was parked up next to the 6x6 while they were trying to haul Bev out with winches, etc. I was wondering how long it would take them to use it!

Wasn't a great course this year anyway. They obviously have to work with an ever changing quarry and this year it didn't really leave much to play with.We were following a bunch of Suzi's round and one of them got bored enough to tip his over on purpose! Were you around when the Suzuki driver got told off for driving up one of the slopes backwards?!

Didn't see him Steve.
The guy that pulled bev out told him he'd either get him out or snap him in half. It popped out like a cork.

I went to the college there and so can identify with the problems getting a good course going. That used to be my own playground when I went there. We'll be back for next year. Any news on a date anyone?

The Breckland LRC web site seems to have gone. It was never kept up to date too well, but it seems to have gone altogether now.

I suggested using it about 1/2 hour before but they started pontificating about him not being a marshall and therefore not being insured.
When they admitted defeat he can round and said he could get it out even if it was a bit at a time
