Greenway Macho are a good all rounder. I used Alligators for a while fab off road  ( possibly the best?)but not road legal I did pop to the shops on them a few times and horrendous isnt a good enough word to describe there on road ability.

I currently use Colway Ctrax very good off road but noisy on it but what do you expect for £10 each   Try here nice bloke and cheap.

i would really recomend the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain, quite a few pennies but well worth it. amazing offroad and great onroad, and they last for ever. they arnt loud at all and can do the speeds. they hold the road really well aswell. i was in a fencing firm, and they only used these tyres on all their trucks, doing mega miles on road, and they would last 6-7 years or more. the only time we got stuck with them was with a 3ton trailor ina  really sloppy field. ive got em on my disco now and really impressed so far. i got mine from tyretorque.com and thought they were the cheapest for £93 i think, but MM4X4 might be abit cheaper. might be a little bit more difficult to get for 18 rims, but they are out there!! good luck!

My discovery has 16 inch rims however my dads (who i live with) has 18". At the time he purchased his tyres there was difficulty in obtaining any non road biased tyres in that size with the correct speed rating however General grabbers do the AT2 which are an aggresive looking all terrain. On road they are very very good and in the wet aswell, so good i bought a set for mine!

They wear well drive lioke a normal tyre (they perform better than my brigestones which had 6mm of teread left) in the wet and dry, and landrover experience centres are often using them!

We ha#ve bouth 10 AT2 between us and have no compaints but lots of positives.

I cant comment on MT's as i have never owned any!
