Title: How do people do it?
Post by: Evilgoat on February 12, 2007, 09:03:39
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/6351509.stm

my father was first on the scene and treated him untill the HantsAMB crews arrived with my Mother.

Tibia and Fibia fractured on BOTH legs, pelvis shattered and some unknown spinal injury at the time. He's now facing the loss of at least one leg possibly both. The car hit him hard enough to set off the airbags and what did the scumbag driver do?

Got out, legged it and left him to die.

I really dont understand how people can do this.

Dont tell me. The owner of the car will have woken up in the morning to have found his car had been stolen OR he will never have registered it to himself in the first place (avoids road tax and gatso fines).

People like that should be charged with attempted murder not just a dangerous driving or whatever (assuming they catch him).

I beleiove the law on this has changed so death by dangerous driving does now carry similar penalties to manslaughter.

And that's being kind to them.

Eye for an eye in this case would be appropriate.

a freind of mine was killed on the A6 (northants) when he was walking back to his broken down car at 11.00pm, he was hit by a transit, they drove off and he was killed instantly.
police said they couldnt do anything because there wasnt any witnesses.

the law SUCKS

HUH...?

I realise it's a loss that you'll feel personally... and you have my sympathy...

But...

What information did they have to go on...? Registration number? Company name on van? Anything? Damaged vehicle at the scene?

All of the above (in liue of reliable witnesses identification of driver) simply go to prove the vehicle... not the driver.

Probably a bunch of smack heads that only care about them selves, between me when they are caught they should be locked away for a long time...or a bit of rough justice

I stand to be corrected, but if the airbags deployed, my understanding is that forensics have a reasonable chance of finding some biomaterial to get a DNA imprint? Or have I completely forgotten my Forensics Sciences 101??

I would have thought so, having seen enough of the things go off :) You know how thesew things work now. we are out of the loop and the press dont get updates on these things untill they have a good idea what is going on. I find it unlikely that the scrote responsible hasnt had his collar felt yet.
