Title: Disabling Lights / Buzzer ??
Post by: Horness on February 15, 2007, 14:52:36
Does anyone know how I would wire up a switch to disable the brake/reversing lights when driving, and also the annoying buzzer reminder when you open the door with the keys in the ignition?

Any help/advice appreciated.

Cheers

well the brake lights would be pretty easy id think, just a couple of long bits of wire to wherever... the buzzer? do the same, just wire a switch in series with it...... or just hit it with a hammer

what would you want to disable the brake lights for though?

Shooting at night (legally), from behind a lamp.

brake lights wire a on/off switch in line to the switch on the brake pedal.

for the reverse light do the same to the top of the gearbox.
Might be worth having a small warning bulb or something so when you get back on the road you don't forget to turn them back on!

If you want to get rid of all the rear lights I guess you could cut into the earth for them and switch that...

Dont, just sit behind any ford with badly earthed lights to see what that will do :)

you need to have some way of knowing you have your brake lights switched on or off or you are going to get into trouble with the old bill, or someone ram you from behind, both im sure you could do without.
i dont realy see how brake lights are a problem whilst lamping, they have never bothered me, but, if you want them blanked, would it not be beter to devise some sort of shield over the lamp or just gaffer tape them over so you have to pull it of when youve finished.
