Title: Winch....?

I know bu**er all about winches........a chap has just offered me a Bachmayr 2 ton winch for £40 quid..........would it even pull my bad tooth out?......

Any body got any advice for me.......?

2 tonner is for quad bikes etc, to small fora 4x4 stuck in mud.
it would pull you but when your stuck fast, the forces on the winch are much higher than the weight of vehicle, could be a 6 or 7 ton effort to get you unstuck!

Yeah, 8,000lb is the minimum I would use, and I prefer the 12 tonners anyway.

2 tonnes is around 4400lbs so for recovering yourself from mud you'll be needing twice that much pull, at least.
It'll be good for recovering a boat onto a trailer or pulling you across a carpark but that's about it.  :wink:

You can get a new 5000 or 6000lb winch on Ebay from £40-£60 but the cheapest 8000lb ones are around £250. Then you've got to mount it somewhere.  :wink:

You sure you mean 12 tonnnes and not 12,000lb winch?
12 tonnes is 26,400lb, you don't see many of them on sale!  :shock:
Although it would pull you out of anything you fancy getting stuck in!!  :lol:
