Post by: MudRat on February 16, 2007, 20:22:26
got three of them to fit, 2 big one small, i take it the two big ones go in either end of the intercooler pipes, where does the little one go?

I'd love to know if this makes any difference, I've toyed with the idea of getting one for a while but I think electric fans are more worthwhile for a starting point.  Let me know if I'm wrong

there supposed to clean up airflow into the head and increase performance, im not convinced, as have known several people who have had them said they are great but then taken them out and sold them!

I've heard the purists argue that if you look at the theory of how they work, they should make no measurable difference, but I've also heard people who have spent money on them say that they do.

Trouble is, performance is so subjective...  we all know the feeling when you've just washed the car and it seems to run so much better :)

I'd be interested to see a decent dynamometer test before and after;  the trouble is, if you've just spent 60 quid on something, you're going to naturally be looking for improvement even if there isn't any.

Save your time and leave them out! you got to ask yourself why would you put one before the intercooler??? they are supposed to swirl the air going into the intake manifold, cant imagine it doing much swirling after its been through an intercooler!!! They list 2 cos they say that if you put them together just before the intake manifold you get more swirl than 1.
The theory is ok if they were in one pipe going direct to one cylinder but its not, all that swirling air goes into the inlet manifold and then has to turn a 90 degree bend and then sspilt into 4 inlets through the ports and past the valves still swirling? i dont think so.
You have got to hand it to them though they have made enough money from them!!!!! and it appears that there are still people willing to buy them.
You would get more of a performance boost if you pumped your tires up 1psi than you would with a hiclone lol

Got to say in my experiance in the motor trade, cant see these things making any difference, if they were taht good why dont the manufactures fit them?

Inducing turbulence to give better combustion chamber filling and subsequent burn is good in theory . . . . but in practice, I remain sceptical.

A good tweak and big intercooler will do far more for the power . . . but at a price . . .
