Title: D2 V8 Head Gasget

I think the sodding head gasget has gone now! Whilst driving round town this morning i noticed a slight noise coming from the engine under load at slow speeds.

I stopped and had lunch.  :evil:

Then when i started off again it seemed worse untill i could hear it even when the engine was idling, it sounded like a ticking but with a bit of a suck thrown in, in time with just one of the cylinders firing.

Hopefull the warranty company wont be able to weasle out of this!  

Anybody else had a head gasget go on their D2 V8?  BTW it's only done 50000 miles!!

I've had a head gasket go, about 9 months after an overheating incident.

It kind of went chuff CHUFF           chuff CHUFF           chuff CHUFF.

If it just goes tick      tick      tick   it could just be the damn manifolds.  My endurance record ofr a set of these is now about 3 months, I've had them last as little as 2 weeks, basically every time I tow anything they give up.

CHUFF CHUFF........ that sounds like it!!

Just had it back with 2 shiny heads & new gasgets.  :D

The warranty company sais that they would pay for the gasgets & labour but they wont cover the other gasgets like the exhaust manifold etc, even though you have to remove them to do the job!! :x  B*ST~~#!S

Well I'd tell them I'm not paying as I didn't authorise the removal of those gaskets.  the warranty company obviously thinks you can do the job without removing the exhaust.

They are probably used to garages that slide new head gaskets in without lilfting the head more than about 10mm.

But that's insurance for you :roll:

So how much are we talking, gold plated exhaust gasket, times 8 :o

The warranty company agreed to pay for:
The Head gasgets £37.46
The labour £175.00
A bit of the Antifreeze £10.00 (WHY????)

Their bill inc Vat £261.40

Tight GITS!!!! Rang up gave them a load of abuse, but they still wouldnt budge.

I had to pay for:
All the other gasgets.
Studs
The rest of the antifreeze (3 ltrs)
Pressure testing & refacing the heads.

My Bill came to inc Vat: £262.44

I HAD TO PAY MORE!  

Some how they expect you to change the gasgets without removing the heads!! :x
