Football is on............ so what happens to the proper programme that I wanted to watch?? Is life on mars going to be shown on another day? I really hate football and I hate the BBC for messing with programming just for a stupid sport
-
It's back on next week - we're suffering withdrawal symptoms as well
-
couldnt agree more!
i hate it, football on 1, snooker on 2, rugby on 3, horse racing on 4, and just rubish on 5.
well thats what it seems like some times.
-
With you on this one - SWMBO usually watches 'Holby City' and will now have to wait until next week for this weeks....
At the mo' she's watching something on Sky and I'm on here - who's having the most fun?
Regadrs, Chris
-
Even with all the channels on Sky, it's sometimes more entertaining to switch off the TV and watch the dog!
-
The PC is upstairs in the office (a spare-bedroom) so I'm okay
I've got the 'Listen Again feature on (Radio 2) with Parson & Naylors Pull-Out Section (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/comedy/#parsons)
-
oh dear we have some people that hate sport...

-
Bunch of jessies kicking a cows bladder round a field then crying at the end. Thats not sport, it's finiancial extortion of the brainwashed masses.
I cringe at the cost my mate pays for a ticket, pie and a pint afterwards... then comes in to work either hyper for three days or in depression.
Bonkers it is
-
well some people love it. some people dont.
-
Just like marmite........ luckily though marmite doesnt have the power to change programming to suit football fans
-

Come on man u
`ducks and heads for cover`

Can't say we really miss it 8)

im a southampton fan myself

I don't hate sport. Football is not a sport though. It's just a game, well a business really. Just a bunch of overpaid (ofetn illiterate) jessies kicking a bag of wind about. Why does the world have to stop just so we can watch this cack?
Really funny the last time we had the pub meet the football was on, non of use were watching so it was just annoying. Later on when the weather was on they threatened snow, now that got a BIG cheer :)

Well said Andy!
The vast majority of them are over-paid, over-hyped, under-educated louts!!!
-
Hmm... not many footie fans here, I'd rather watch 90 mins of football than a bunch of of wanna be film stars in some daft soap opera :D
-
I don't hate sport. Football is not a sport though.
see thats your veiw on it.
my veiw is different. i am surprised how many people on here dont like it

I would rather chew my own foot off than watch football but then I dont mind watching a bunch of wanna be film stars in a daft soap
-
see, everyone is different!
-
I'm not a football fan at all... bores the crap out of me however I guess some people love it as there is so much money involved
-
I quite enjoy watching or playing (trying to anyway) a good game of footie, but I have to agree that the money has destroyed it for most people.
So what to do?
Watch the Rugby instead............at least until money ruins that aswell!
-
[ F***ball is not a sport though. It's just a game, well a business really. Just a bunch of overpaid (ofetn illiterate) jessies kicking a bag of wind about. Why does the world have to stop just so we can watch this cack?
Totaly agree. Look at Beckham. Paid far too much to run around a enclosed common chasing an air bag and aiming for some string. When they get the air bag to touch string then they all go around kissing each other as obviously the chaser was so amazing to get it hit the string. (like it hasnt ever been done before)
If the money wasnt so stupidly high and there were some english players playing in england instead of 1 english person (or there abouts) in the whole of the premier division, it may make it slightly better.
Bring on the sports that do involve some skill like rallying. Now getting a car to do 90mph on gravel around a corner on the edge of a cliff takes guts, courage and SKILL.
1 easy way around this boredom of f***ball on tv is to turn off the tv and chuck it away. I havent had a tv for 6 months now. Fantastic and lovin every minute of it!
I could rant all night about this.
BAN FOOTBALL.

Well out here in the real world more people hate football than like it!
What p***es us off is the way it gets rammed down our throats whether we like it or not.
Why not have a dedicated football channel on freeview? just as long as all the football stayed there and kept out of the way. the I could happily deleted another channel from the program list and we'd all be happy.

I'd just turn it off, or listen to the Radio.
It always amuses when a (invariably)male patient asks me if I've been "watching the match"
I often tell them I've brought an unsealed can of Dulux to observe instead
Not many of ou clients get the jist of what I mean

Totally agree, World Rally Championship is 'the biz', as is World Superbikes.
However, my 'top of the tree' is the Tour de France.
Viva Lance!
BAN FOOTBALL.
Can we do one of the Number 10 petitions with that in mind??

Another sport I do think takes skill is when motorbikes (and most of the time riders) have to bounce up obstacles like old cable drums and logs and waterfalls etc. they do it inside and up steep banks too. I cant remember the name of it but that takes some doing to do.
BAN FOOTBALL.

We could always give it a go even if we just get f**tball banned from all channels except the sky sport ones where they belong.

Motorcycle Trials
There's indoor & outdoor championships. I've seen the Indoor about 4 times at Sheffield Arena ,& the outdoor a few years ago at Hoghton Towers (near Blackburn)
A veritable feat of bike control & we've had a multiple (indoor & outdoor) English world champion; Dougie Lampkin

And only broadcast in the middle of the night as well (say?..... 3AM)

i guess i am very much out numbered here.

Sorry mate it looks like it!!1
We wont hold it against you though!!!!! We may need towing out a hole one day

Too late! It already has.
The day it went professional ruined it for a lot of people (and small clubs). I still watch it occasionally but IMHO it isn't as good as it used to be. They have even changed things to allow them to do things that would incur penalties before.
-
Dougie Lampkin. I must really be getting old. I remember Martin Lampkin. Anyone remember Les Boocock. Speedway and trials rider?
Pete.
-
My dad trialed with martin lampkin!
I have dabled in club trials myself but think i'll stick to the landy (hurts when you fall off a bike :P )
Totaly agree football sucks and should be banned!
Bring back Group B!! :D
-
You all say that money has ruined football, I've got two brothers one who plays footie every sunday and one who goes karting once a month. The thing is karting cost a hell of alot more than a pair of football boots and if the schools pushed sports a bit more we would'nt be seeing all these over weight kids on the news like we are now.
-

Not necessarily...
I go and watch "Delia's Army" when I get a chance - generally when they're playing an away game within an hour or so of Sheffield. They don't get on TV much (even when they play Chelski!), so I don't watch much sport on TV. Parking the 90 amongst the tractors has a certain charm!
Hopefully we'll stay in the Championship this season!
I do like "Life on Mars" though
Apparently it's up for a couple of awards at the TV Awards.
Cheers
Ben

Dougie's only about 30
Martin is his coach as well as being dad, there was also an Arthur Lampkin, who was Martins brother
I didn't realise that Dougie actually had 12 World Titles, I knew he was a MBE though

Years ago when I had a 'proper' job I used to get well pee'd off during the b****y world cup. I had the sort of job that didn't end at 5 o'clock, if anything it was getting busier and we were expected to stay until it was done. Except during the world cup, we wern't trusted with keys to our own office so one of the management had to lock up after we had gone. We got chased out of the office so they could go home and watch 'the beautiful game' even if we were on the 'phone to customers. It was b***y annoying. Thing is a couple of weks later when I grabbed my coat at 5 every night I got numerous accusing looks, until someone asked me where I was off to.
"tour de France is on", well they all knew I was seriously into cycling at the time so it got left at that, but the double standard annoyed me and that's why I hate football, it's the attitude that it's the only game that matters.
IT'S JUST A GAME, like Dominos
My mates and I came to an understanding about sports, basically if you can DIE in the persuit of doing it, then it's a sport.
Motorsport, yeap
Cycling, yeap
Rugby, open to debate actually :?
Sailing, yeap
Rock climbing, yeap
Football, never, ever in a million years, it's just a game!
-
While in Paris with my dad many moons ago we got to watch some of the Tour de France up close and personal like........... unfortunately it was a bad experience for us that day........... my dad was pick pocketed on the underground (they only got his keys which they threw back with a look of disgust when they realised it wasnt a wallet) and on returning to our camper on the banks of the river Seine we found it had been broken into and the only thing the damn thieves took was my brand new calculator which I had owned for about a week and which was the first one I had ever had bought :(
-
They don't like to admit it but the french have a worse problem with youths than we do :(

It was the same at our place, a TV only appeared during the World Cup.
When I asked for one for 'Le Tour', I got told unequivocally "No!"
When I complained about hypocrisy & unfairness, it was brushed aside
To para-phrase yours Andy
Motorsport; F1 is too boring & predictable
Cycling; Yes (used to race on the road, cyclo-cross & Mountain Bike race)
Rugby; No, not for me
Sailing; Interesting, but wet
Rock climbing; Bro-in-law used to do it, he even got offered an instructors job at 'Xscape' when it opened
Football: No!!!!!
