I get about that or less from my TD5, but then again, the roof rack, suspension lift and big tyres don't exactly help.  Every successive Disco engine seems more powerful and less economical:  200Tdi, 300Tdi, TD5, TDV6!

If you can afford to buy it you can surely afford to run it

Look into an LPG conversion, it can release about 25% extra power form the fuel.  This doesn't mena it has to go faster though, it means it can use less fuel to do the same job.  It's also MUCH cleaner, should pass Euro 5 spec without a cat.

With road tyres on I seem to average around 26-27.  On mud terrains it goes down to 22.5-23.5.

But I tend to drive it more like a car than a 4x4 so others could well get more!

yeah its on road tyres and most of the time driven by mum (a very erm safe (read slow) driver)

Should I take it in to land rover to have a look?

Any idea what could be causes the poor mpg?  :?

Take it out and thrash it, it probably needs a run.
