I'm trying to get the interior mirror off of an early 2 door to sort out the headlining and I'll be jiggered if I can get the thing off .The base plate is on with 2 screws but i cant get the mirror stalk off of it to get to the screws!Any suggestions please?(i need it off unbroken!)

IIRC it's meant to come off in an accident, it's held on by a spring clip (mine wobbles  ) and I think you have to lever between the baseplate and the stalk to get it off in one peice.

That make any sense?
