Title: discovery 300 tdi

when i drive along the road and put my foot down the turbo comes in and i hear loud  hissing noise any ideas soon as i take my foot of it stops   .if i only put foot on pedel a little bit no noise but half way down the noise is there .
no loss of power any one know what it is.

you should get some turbo whistle/whine but it shouldn't be that noticable.

check the top intercooler hose, maybe split on the underside  :wink:

Sounds like you have an intercooler pipe come off or leaking.

My last 300 did this (sounds cool though), it was my top intercooler hose, you couldn't see anything physically wrong with it but when it boosted it opened it up, not a big job to take them off completely and check them

While you're checking the intercooler/turbo hoses for holes, also look on the inside of them and check for de-lamination of the rubber.

This may not be the problem now but if the hoses are old then this can cause loss of power and is worth checking while you're looking at them anyway.  :wink:

thanks for  your   help ...on the pipe the  elbow  pipe  had a split in it under neath the pipe so was hard to see the split. but ajd landrovers man knew where to look he said elbow pipes are always splitting but the new elbow pipe is better and thicker  rubber.
 bought new elbow pipe from ajd landrovers very hepfull firm in  essex
not far from me ..

thanks again for all the advice    i can feel the differance now the pipe as been changed  loads of speed now   :o    :lol:
