When my TD5 is very cold (ie winter's morning cold) it starts fine, then as I pull away it misfires for about 5 or 10 seconds, with plenty of smoke. Then it runs fine.
I had the injector loom replaced as it was leaking oil, but it's still doing it. Any pointers? I'm 99% sure the ECU is properly configured for the injectors.

i had my loom changed not so long ago because it was missing , they also changed the air flow meter as this was playing up.
so not sure if this will help you or not?
but thats what was replaced when mine was playing up.
and now its fine.

Good idea, but I forgot to mention I had the AMF meter replaced about 2000 miles ago so I hope it's not that!
-
Still got the old one?
-
Sadly not... but it was quite U/S, constantly outputting "4" IIRC.

Just a note my td5 does the same, im told its normal due to the rear cylinder no 5 not having a glow plug fitted from the factory and you cant fit one, thats just the way it is, hope this makes sense :D

Have you had a diagnostic check on your Td5's??
They should start from cold (esp. in this country) without a problem - even only having 4 glow plugs.
There are other things that can cause a misfire....
A dodgy injector
A faulty injector loom - oil leaking past the sealing is not the only problem they suffer from.
Crank sensor faults
Faulty ECU
Faulty Boost Controler (disco only)
Or a stuck/faulty EGR (although would show up at other times)
To name a few....
Injector coding doesn't make 'that' much difference, and I don't think a faulty MAF/AFM would cause that (could do you one cheaper than most places if you want to try??)
Thermidorthelobster - have you still got your original ECU - as I think Autologic sell you a flash type one when you have one of their tunes (rather than change the chip inside  ) - might worth plugging it back in.

just to say, mine starts and runs fine from cold,
even when its freezeing.
hope this helps.

Ive allready checked for ecu codes, non found, dont bother me still goes like stink!!!!

I still have the original ECU (as a spare in case I dunk it) so I'll try it next time it's freezing cold.
