hi all, ok i think i know what happened here but here we go...
basicly, the rear passengers side indicator unit is burnt out and now all indicators and hazards dont work. the unit is melted and scorched. i think maybe the bulb must of been in contact with the plastic. grrrr is this a possibility?
whats the best way to fix this temperaly? isolate that corner and put a new fuse in? :?
-
Yes, I'd have thought so.
-
Are the other 3 indicators still working?
The fuse for that side controls both front and rear, another check may be the relays, they can only take so much if it shorts through
Its a case of trial and error, try a test bulb on the burnt out side on the wiring to see if its still getting live, worth checking the earth wire on that side, it may have well taken a heavy load on the short
-
ok, all the fuses are ok, and i taped off that rear passengers side. still nothing all round, no indicators of hazards :x :x :x grrrrrrrrrrrrr
looking forward to waste most of tomorow trying to fix it :?

Relays may be worth a check, best with an analog meter, or test bulb on a couple of wires to test the connections and outputs

The flasher unit is worth looking at.

cheers guys, i think thats what it is.. well i hope thats what it is
looks like the bulb never was in contact with the plastic. its something even more obvious! i lost the end pipe on the exhaust, so it just ends at the box. and the box looks like its facing up a bit more now. its been like that for months, no problem. and i got this new bulb socket the other day, so i thought it was that. but im prety sure it was the exhaust, gets prety warm there

i can vouch for the exausht melting the light housing... as rabbits is very nicely melted after looping nice section of the exaust off after it being squashed agaisnt the wheel.

ok well theres more to it :( all the circuitry is thare, but we think the alarm is doing something there. its not a factory alarm, so who knows. sent it in to get a look at. mot aswell. guna get pricey, i can feel it

Sounds like you need an auto electrician to check the motor out
