After all the crap that is in the press about tax increase and 4x4 bashing I saw some numpty talking about how "Socially unacceptable it is becoming to drive and own a 4x4"
He pointed out that the rich and famous are going down the lines of electric cars and crap like the Gwizz.
Well quite frankly I don’t give a s**t what some useless TV personality drives, they only interested in them selves and their image :roll: If it became fashionable to saw you leg off in public and donate it to some third world country to help starving families they would be stupid enough to do it.
I say lets organise a big rally and drive to London for a family day out! Screw what the anti's say as long as we pay our congestion charge we have a right to be there.

Good, fantastic, blooming excellent news. Considering that I've no intention of pandering to an ego mass that demands conformity it's not going to make diddley squat of a difference to my choices but as the masses move onto something else the pressure to increase taxation will do as well.

I think you're missing the point, they want to keep the 4x4s out of london...

not for wembley / 2012 games / or to sight see, or any reason even a mass drive down to shake our fists at number 10

my responce may not be as dressed up as some or rely on any arguments etc but if they say its "socialy unexcetable" I say

its my fredom to choose what I drive... perhaps I find it "socialy unexceptable" to be preached to by muppets who distort the facts,lie,harasse me and otherwise just make a general nusance of themselves.
Although the UK has no "bill of rights" such as the USA that I still have a certain amount of personal freedom to drive what ever the hell I want.

Count me in as well.
To be honest, the anti-4x4 people just make me laugh everytime I see them spouting their rubbish and handing out their pieces of paper.
I have even been at traffic lights in town and had one woman wind down her window and start on me for driving a large 4x4 and that im polluting the planet and killing something or other. I personally then got a bit wound up and told her that I enjoy driving my big gas guzzler round town and she shouldn't interfere with other peoples business.
So yes, im up for a little protest!

How about a trip to somewhere apart from London?
Reasons...........
London is C**P and to agree with the anti's, TOO conjested for ANY personal vehicles
The fact that we aren't going to the obvious place makes the trip more newsworthy
Most of us live in areas where 4x4's are actually useful vehicles (places that have snow and ice)
It would be more fun and less of a chore
We could actually do something when we got there
It would advertise the main reason that people do buy 4x4's, rather than the fashion statement
Just a thought, sorry won't do it again :smack:

Whilst I agree with the general direction of this thread I would like to say that I love London, I enjoyed living and working there for many years. It doesn't all stink and it isn't all a dump. If i could afford to move back I would probably consider it. Looking forward to the 2012 games!

I lived in lundon whilst I was a student. The place was a toilet then and it's a toilet now.
It's the dump at the bottom of the country we keep the tourists in.
The only reason lundon is the capital of this country is that it was the EASIEST place for the Romans to invade.
What sort of a reason is that?

Anyhoo, last time I took the Rangie to lundon, I didn't get charged a penny. I heard that as a visitor you may be exempt :?
Anyway, I was only there for a few hours because SWMBO was on a course for 3 days and ended up in hospital with FOOD POISENING, that's because the place is a toilet.

all the major e-coli outbreaks have been outside of london.....Wales.....scotland..... just bad luck!

What is needed is a planned route around the city centre past the houses of parliment with as many 4x4s as we can get.
The idea is a protest not just a meet anywhere.
It needs good organization and planning and support from owners not the usual "i'd be there BUT"
It will also need to be a weekday.
I dont mind organizing this though help would be grateful and also it is to involve all 4x4ers not just people from this forum.

I would be up for it! Would have to make sure its not too early, its 200 miles from here. How about driving (or as close as possible anyway) the marathon route? We would also be best to meet up outside of london as well and drive in on mass!
My only concern is would we be making things worse?

Right then guys lets come up with a date and then get advertising on every site we can think of and try to arrange with others meeting places along the way. We are gonna do this!!!!

If its happening I reckon we need to pick a date at least a month in advance, that way most people should be able to make it. Once there is a date etc I will happily advertise any of it on my website if it helps at all.
Hows about a poll to see how many people are willing?

Well I fall into the "I'll go along if you're all going" catagory.
it's a long way to go to be billy no-mates, but if there are enough of us and it will do some good then it needs to be done.
Thing is I got away lightly this time, maybe sticking our heads above the parapet will make things worse :?:

Well we seem to be getting a slight ammount of support on here however i am sure if we get this out to a wider audience we will get a lot more support.
Glad to see that there are some others in this world with some honest get up and go lets do it attitude.
Its a protest yes, but at the end of the day it will also be a great laugh!!

Perhaps we also need to see what other organisations feel about joining us for a day in the big smoke... Ie Difflock, GLASS, NCGL etc and then we need to look at a few issues like press release, planned route, date, advertising etc etc...
I would suggest someone with authority needs to take control or perhaps a joint effort. :lol:
Any suggestions or volunteers...I would, but being new to this 4x4 thing and moving house I am not the best person, however I will help as much as I can but we need a leader or leaders...

Well I would prefer not to go to London. When I go somewhere where I don't speak the language I would rather it to be nice and sunny where the people are pleasant.
I can also assure you that if the media want to entice the general public to have a go at you (as they do with the 4x4 set at the moment) they will present the story in such a way that will do it. Remember, the news that you will see is the version that they want you to hear.
Some people I know were shooters before the hand gun ban. They were some of the most down to earth law abiding people I have ever known. The general public hammered them after the Dunblane tragedy. They were as upset as anyone about the events but they had done nothing wrong. People in general said why do you need guns anyway! When I put this to them one of them said that he "enjoyed a sport that when he participated it made his heart beat faster" After all - Why would anyone want to drive in accessible by a standard car!! - If you see what I mean!!!
If you choke London - Home of the media - I do not think it will serve our purpose. I may well be wrong but let’s face it - in this country at the moment we certainly like to beat the minorities.
Sorry for getting all political but I can assure you that some of the x-shooters suffered more for protesting and being ignored than if they had done nothing!! - after all no one listened and I feel it will be the same with us.

love to join you but there is one rather large problem..... If there is a gathering large enough to cause any sort of impact it then becomes illegal and the police will be allowed to disband us in any way they see fit. now it becomes a question of how far do people want to go?

How about a concerted protest in several major cities on the same day?
I would suggest:
London - for all the Cockeneys
Bristol - for the Yokels
Birmingham - for everyone who lives in the midlands
Leeds - 'cos it's the capital of Gods Own County
Newcastle - Capital of Geordieland
Edinburgh or Glasgow - Let the Scots make up thier own minds!
I for one, would be reluctant to drive all the way to Lundin to protest (cost of fuel, time, other expenses) but would be more than happy to protest somewhere a bit more local. I suspect others may feel the same. Also, if we were countrywide we would reach more local media, not just the Lundin news.
