Oh wow .... need to check, but is that NEW Band G cars?

hahahahaha I am band F :-) .. my mate who has the SAME spec vehicle had his registered after 23rd March is band G ... and has to pay £300.

LPG doesn't matter, it still has petrol so it will fall into Band F or G.

As I read band G is only vehicles registered after 2006.

The real hit of these isn't going to come in for 5-10 years when today's spanking new Discovery 3 is worth nothing because people don't want to pay the duty.

Hi

having just phoned the poor guys at DVLA - my1999 4 litre V8 will go up by £5 next tax time

watched some bloke on skynews being interviewed by the blonde bimbo about the tax on vehicles - he made some very good points and all she kept going on about was gas guzzling 4wds - he let her know that they were not the worst on the road for emissions - she obviously did not get his point

regards

ela

How do you know which Band your vehicle is in ??

The V5 for my Disco has a CO2 value of 284g/km - so I guess that has to be band F, but the V5 for the 110 has no CO2 figure (it's currently taxed as a light goods vehicle)

I'd been looking at that page, when I wrote my post - dunno what was going through my brain   ..........mud probably

Some guys at work were slating the Disco yesterday, saying that the budget would hit 4x4's etc, I pointed out that them who drive 2.5 diesel and 2.4 petrol Audis we're also 'gas guzzlers'.........but having seen the Bands, I guess they might not be - anyone know of a website where you can look up the Band of any vehicle ?

Just found this place:

http://www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/index.asp

only any good for new motors, but might give an indication.

What I'd really like to find, is a website where you stick in your vehicle make/model/fuel etc - and it says what your CO2 should be.

Easy solution to all this, Drive on Trade plates!
   Cheaper than taxing the car!

OK, so if I am right, then my 1988 2.5TD will only cost £180 per year

Or am I totally off the mark, if this is the case, then I am happy now

Whats most annoying for me is that my TDCI Mondeo that is used everyday costs £135 whilst my little Vitara which I only use every other weekend costs £180.

I still reckon that it would be fairer to put it all on fuel so that those that use most fuel (either by size or mileage) and therefore wear out the road more would pay more tax.

And before you all have a go at me, my Vitara only does 22MPG with the M/T's on.

Why doesn't everyone just not pay road tax :?:
What are they going to do?...fine everyone who doesn't then pay the fine...would upset Mr Browns cash flow   :D
Might actually force the government to do something that isn't just window dressing there problems & trying to win public support

Cos some little man in a black suit, and black shades will come round and clamp your car - seriously, there's an old Merc parked up just round the corner from here, the guy has another one on his drive, and it looks like he was using bits from one to repair the one on the drive. The one on the road has a bright yellow wheel clamp on the off-side front wheel, and a huge yellow and black 'Untaxed Vehicle' sticker on the front screen. Looks like Herts CC are out to get non-payers !!!!!

I just worked the wifes 03 Freelander TD4 to £205 so I think you are - or we are both wrong :) Trusty old Elmo gets a £ one hundred and eighty which is kinda bizarre given that (a) its 2.5L (ish) and (b) its an older engine (200 TDI) and therefore I would imagine less "green".

Can't wait to tell her in the morning though :) :) :) :)

248 CO2  is band G but the new rates only apply to vehicles registered after 23 March 06 (I think that's when the band came in)

Band F (186-225 CO2) is a £15 increase on petrol and £10 on diesels and alternative fuel.
