wheres the best place to mount them on a disco 1?
many thanx matt

Got mine on a gutter mount towards the back.

matter of opinion. i have mine on a gutter mount by the snorkle. That wa syou can hide the coax down the side of the snokle...much neater

Mine's slap bang in the middle of the roof, just above the rear courtesy light 'cos it's the best place for it as far as ground plane theory goes & probably the hardest place for anyone to nick my antenna from.

Used to have a mag-mount on the roof, now gutter mount on near side,

Mine's on the spare wheel carrier, see this thread (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=10464&highlight=aerial) for details and photos.

Mag mount on the roof, nice big ground plane. Seems to work for folks.

According to the chap in the CB shop in Micheal Wood Services on the M5 all CB antennas are the same overall length no matter how long they appear, short ones have more coils tightly compacted whereas long ones have less coils further apart, apparantly the longer ones are supposed to be better and a longer one mounted lower down is better than a short one mounted higher up.

just this minute fitted mine, and i went for gutter mount behind snorkel, the following made me decide on this, as Bulli, easy to hide cable behind snorkel, easy to route cable through existing hole to engine bay, and finally i only had coax long enough to reach here, not the back as i originally planned :?
