Title: DODGY HEATER
Post by: SHERMAN TANK on November 20, 2004, 01:15:36
Just thought i'd appeal to the brains of our multi-talented Mud club...
For some strange reason the fan that blows out warm/cold air is a bit fussy on when it wants to work , i've checked the wiring its fine. Haynes manual says check the relay but i can't find the right one, could you guys help as its getting bloody cold.

My heater had a problem. it would stop and start on it own but if it stopped if I pushed the fan control quickly from fast to slow several times stopping on fast it would kick in for some time. Turned out to be the switch I did take it apart and it did work but only for a few weeks had to get new one in end.

Its normally the contacts on the blower switch, thay wear or get clogged up, as a quickfix, try spraying some wd40 using the little tube with it into the switch gear, work the switch back and forwards, see whats happens, if it was a relay prob you should be able to hear it clicking if it is dropping in and out

Dave

If it turns out to be a faulty switch, give me a pm.  I've just replaced the whole blower assembly on my 200tdi 'cos it had a poorly motor.  I have a whole spare blower assembly (minus motor, of course).
