All are different, £12 puts the light out from empty ish :?: on my RR classic, another one I bought had run out of fuel and I put a tenner in and the light stayed out for 15 miles (approx 1 gallon) :?
landrover tolerances

Acxcording to LR, there is 9 litres left in a 200Tdi tank when the orange light comes on first..

I think about a gallon in mine. Fill it right up, that way you'll know how much was still in when you filled up, as thew tank holds 15 gallon or something like that, it's in the handbook.

As far as your nerves will take you!!! With me it is the nearest petrol station! I hate it when the needle even gets close to the red let alone see the light come on

Mine nearly ran dry on me yesterday! Seems it shows as being emptier when going downhill (my old Focus was the opposite, you had more in the tank going downhill than you did uphill, so I used to park it pointing downhill to keep the light off ;) .
Whilst going down the track to the house yesterday afternoon the revs slowly dropped off, and the engine cut out, and wasn't very keen on restarting. Managed to get it started this morning and down to the local garage where I did the painful job of filling it right up :(

this will make you laugh. My neice asked me to look at a tigra for her. When took on test run i said it was low on petrol. Yes 1 mile down road it stopped. Big problem as i had left mobile in my disco and neither she or her boyfriend had theirs. We had to flag down a car and ask to borrow a mobile. Moral of tale when light on fill up NOW.

Mine stops going "brum" at around a quarter, I have no idea whether the light comes on or not, since, er... walking two miles for some diesel makes you not wonder things like that
