Just sitting here reading Practical Classics magazine (OK, it's a quiet morning, everyone up town doing Christmas shopping!). There is a letter saying that it is illegal to hand wash a car in Germany. It is apparantly because the car washes use recycled water. When will this one hit the UK, I wonder?
I somehow think the car wash owners would not like us turning up after a particularly muddy day out..... might clog their drains
-
Can't remember where it happened but back when car washes first started using recycled water, car owners noticed heavy corrosion on their cars. It was some time before the two were linked and when investigated the recycled water contained more salt than the salt bath used for accelerated corrosion testing!
SAVE WATER! dilute it!

seven trent want to ban us using fresh water and a brush (no chemicals) to wash our commercial vehicles (normal road use) on the grounds of pollution !!!
I asked if the same would apply if I washed my car in the same place with just fresh water - they said yes !!!!
the worlds gone mad
-
And I just LOVE the way we have to pay them to take away our nice, clean rainwater then pay again to get it back full of c**p!

There was a comment in another post:
If £1 provides water for an entire African village for a whole year, why does the water board charge me £30 a quarter for my 3 bed semi???
When it comes to quality of water, I'm with you. I'd far rather drink rainwater than what comes out of the tap. There are times we can smell the chlorine while running the tap.... and as for the taste :-&
Might as well go and drink the local swimming pool. There is less chlorine in that!
-
Car wash near us closes every other week when the immigration officers raid the place.
-
A mate of mine did a demonstration where they took a sample from the river Trent while demonstrating their water purifying product for the council as they wanted to clean the water used in the nearby paddling pool.
He put the sample back intro tbe river and ended up in court. It's illegal to just add anything to the river.
It's really crazy.

For goodness sake! When will the madness end?

Less chlorine maybe but there is probably more water passed by the swimmer

Oh Bev! Take Guy's knives out.
If I'd spent a bit more time and not hurried I'd have cleaned the rad and not over heated.
I did have half the bomb hole in my winch and bumper.

Would never employ someone who does half a job.
Just wash the radiator, no thank you, do the job properly like Ed and I 8)

Guilty as charged   . Only cleaned radiator. Still overheated and half a ton of c**p on the driveway which have usefully been left at the site   .

Banning hand cleaning my car -
I use a whole reservoir in North Wales.
I would have to leave the country

Surprised you'd not brought a jet wash down with you, you could have cleaned the rad/intercooler out before leaving
