Title: Intermittant Immobiliser Woes 3.9 V8 1998
Post by: daveyravey on March 27, 2007, 20:07:39
This seems to be becoming a habit  lol
It seems as if i have a wee problem with my immobiliser. Mostly it starts fine, but occasionally it doesn't. When i turn the key to start, the dash lights don't dim or go out & the starter does nothing. I've checked the ign wire to the starter, gave it a clean up & made sure it was tight.
Question, is the immobiliser part of the alarm system or is it seperate ?
I have a CATS system. Dunno if its factory or dealer fitted. Can i bypass it to see if that makes a difference ?
I've tried all the usual poking & prodding, but can't seem to find the problem.
Any info greatfully received guys

Hulloreryaweediamond!

Didn't you have a similar problem a while back...?

Have you tried putting 12v direct to the starter motor?

Be Buddy careful though... make sure the damn thing aint in gear and all that! that will prove that it aint the starter motor. Not sure whether it'll actually start though if there is an immobiliser problem.

Good luck wee man.
