I'm a light-comes-on person myself.
-
The ninety has a tiny tank so i tend to not let her get much less than quarter tank but thats dependant on money and whether i can be bothered or not..... Why does the 2nd half of the tank not last as long as the first anyway?
-
What about those who just fill up once a week on a set day??? theres no provision for them!
-
Sometimes I drive so long I worry I wont be able to open the jerry can and fill up with my spare.......other times I dont even wait till it hits orange
-
I top it up every 150-200miles or so.
-
im very much against the light on theory approach. you can get build up of [PooPoo] in the bottom of the tank, and i dont really want thaqt going through my fuel filter! i tend NEVER to let it go below minimum quarter tank,... and usually fill up around half a tank...

I don't trust the light so normally fill up after about 400 kms or just below 1/4 tank :D
-
At the moment i fill up (to the brim) every Tuesday (payday)
Worst thing is, i use most of it every week!
Ker-ching
-
i have a V8, the tanks always empty
-
wenever i need it :D
yes another crap joke
-
I usually wait until the light comes on, but if I am going on a specific journey (unless I have more than 3/4 tank) I fill up on the day or the day before.
I am not convinced that my fuel gauge is that accurate anyway. After filling up it is off the top of the scale and it is still going after the reading is off the bottom of the red. (I don't usually let it get that low though.)
-
HWMBO drives mine (oops hers  ) all week and I get the pleasure of sticking £30 or so of my hard earned into the tank when she mentions it's "getting a bit low"
I did top up the night before the budget ... it was scarey to see how long it took to fill to the brim... then I remembered to turn the engine off :!:
As it turned out for once the petrol prices didn't go up at 6pm that night ...Duh
-
Unless I'm doing a job, (when I fill up before I go out and again when I get back)...If I spot it in time on a quarter of a tank is as low as I like to go
Running on a low tank is something I dont like doing really, you can get condensation in the air gap, which can lead to an accumulation of water in tank
-
For the everyday car, I tend to fill up when I'm in dnager of the light coming on, or before going on a long run.
After 5 years with a duel fuel car, I also have to remember that i can't just hit a switch when it runs out of fuel any more (and also to put DIESEL in the tank).
I fill the Dakar up each time I take it out, since I don't trust the fuel gauge on it.

The light on my 90 starts flashing when the gauge reads half full. Round corners, up and down hill, over bumps and in holes. Given the state of the roads up here, that's most of the time anyway. If the gauge reads empty, there's still about 3 gallon in there.

puggy gets £20 either thursday or friday dependant on finances which normally lasts me the week unless im doing something different in which case she'll get a full tank

I'm a light-comes-on person myself.
Except in the 6x6 which was every fuel station you passed :-)
-
Whenever I am near a supermarket or cheap source of fuel...not often!! :?
-
i nearly always leave it til its running on fumes, means i have to go the petrol station slightly less often

Same here

I tend to play the 0.0 Litres game in the smarts, they count you down from 5.5 lites and when they hit 0.0L it usually means I am no where near fuel....
0.0L in a smart gets me about 6 miles.....
Maybe next time I'll aim for 7 or 8 and see what happens.
When I sold vans, I used to go right through the light on my bus, and get about 75 miles off the light.... and then squeeze 80 litres on a 75 litre tank!
Its a fun game.... I guess oneday I'll pay the price. or buy a fun car that excites me in other ways!
-
every Saturday £30 on a bad week £40 on a good and sooner than later it's full and the forget it for 3 weeks and start again! \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
-
I full up £62 derv when the needle is just in the red about once every three weeks if I use it just to get to work and back.
But depends what I do at weekends  that increases :D

Once in Guinea we had emptied the 110L tank, finished 220L of jerry cans and were finishing off the last 20L jerry can when we got to a petrol station. Luckily, they actually had some petrol. To fill up cost the equivalent of 6 months' wages to a Guinean.
-
depends what i am doing, where i am going and how much cash i got!!!!

Light? What light?
I've sold my high tech Suzuki that had a light which flashed when you went round a cornet under half a tank
The V8 110 doesn't have the luxury of a warning light so I rely on the beads of sweat forming as I watch the gauge drop like a stone

Wondered why it cost me only £2 to fill it up

1/4 of a tank and I'm at the petrol station.

I have to! :(
It's a V8... :D

I dont think the light on my 90 works.
I wait untill the needle touches the red.
now swmbo waits untill the light on her td5 comes on then tells me its need fuel.

Darn.... I've just remembered I Left the IRV at just under 1/2 full  I will no doubt have a rude comment left in my tray on Saturday!

I'm a light on filler. I always see how far I can drive with the light on but constantly panic that I'll not get back to the filling station. Not sure how many litres are in the tank when the light comes on, I suspect I have about 30 miles worth but am not brave enough to try it. Filled up yesterday and got 82 litres in, must be close to empty but don't know the capacity of the tank.
-
Don't have a light in my 110 at least I don't think I do. Have been in another 110 and run out.
Normally when it hits the red I add 25 litres of Bio Diesel. Or if I have cocked up and haven't any in the garage I have to use derv.
-
sorry but i missed the cry like a little girl as i hand my money over option
-
personally im a light man but depending on how far im going how much i think i have left in the tank, but then i just fill up from my 3 jerry cans i carry in the boot!
-
when the lpg runs out then run on petrol till i can get gas

95L... I've got 92 in before, but that was a long time after the light came on and I was starting to get a bit panicky.
-
I fill mine up when i get to approx 500 miles on the clock, which is usually when the light comes on too....sadly this happens nearly twice a week! :(
-
my light comes on at a quater full :? :? so I ignore it until the needle hits the edge of the red :)
I've only ever brimmed the tank once and it cost be £80
-
£20 of bio once a week - about 29 litres - when i feel like splashing out i brim it - usally just under £60...and thats at 68p a litre
-
Before I had the LPG conversion on the V8 it seemed that the red light came on every time I switched the ignition on, even when I had brimmed it :D I actually got 200 miles out of a tankful once! After the LPG kit went on I used to drive it until the gas ran out then get home on petrol and fill up, putting in the odd £15 worth of petrol every so often.
I filled the new one up with diesel shortly after I got her and she's only just got through the first tankful - down to the top of the red. The light came on when she was on the (rather steep) drive.
-
In the noddy car I wait for the light
In the Rangie I usually try to be passing Morrison's before I run out as it's so much cheaper there for LPG.
