My 200 tdi has a flickering oil light . This only comes on when it is warmed up and even then just when it is idling. As soon as you apply any throttle it goes straight out. I've got a pressure gauge to fit when I get chance but I'm assuming this is a warning of low pressure .
Are these the symptoms for a worn oil pump.......and are they easy to change ?

hi there mate try the oil pressure switch befour you pull it to bits there only a few pound. shaun
-
think if it is the pump then its an engine out job as you can't drop the sump in the car from memory
i'd be more worried about the rest of the motor if the lights been coming on though

I don't know what stops the sump coming off whilst in situe, but you probably need the front cover off the bellhousing to get to the back bolts.
What grade of oil are you using an how old is it?
-
15/40w and regular changes. It does seem to improve for a while with the new oil ?
-
My Cav did that, it's a sign that the pump may be on the way out yes, but possibly the pump pressure relief valve too, which might be a cheaper fix.

sump drops of oc & 3 bolts hold the oil pump in place, easy enough to do on the floor
you need to take the engine out if you want to change the shells not the oil pump
