Dear all,
I have just seen the most enlightening history lesson. It was only about 4 minutes long, but it had everything in it that you need to know about the USA in the mid to late 1940's.
It had swing/big band music, vintage aircraft (P51 Mustangs and T6 Texans) fashion from that era, and a fine study of the change in society that took place as the men went off to work and women took their place at the wheels on industry.
Where did I see this excellent piece of film? The History Channel? National Geographic?
Nope!
MTV.
The new Christina Aguilera video for Candyman.
Ding Dong!
If thats what WW2 dancehalls were like, take me back in time, baby!
(Just listen to the lyrics. They are rather naughty. Talk about 'double entendres' )
Sorry, I shall go and take a cold shower. A man of my age! I should be ashamed!

Thats the one! My late parents used to tell me about all the fun they had at the Big Band dances in the 40's. Now I know why!
I like it purely for the music of course!
Much better than all the current heavy bass with delightful lyrics such as "am goin' to pop a cap in yo ass, beyatch", whatever that means!

Its on the list of my things to do in life. I've been to the speed wekend that is held in June, which was pretty damn good, but the Revival is supposed to be the Main Event.
