As some of you know I work in at a large accident repair centre,
anyway part of the group is a recovery service (rac/green flag, police ect), when cars are recovered due to the wrong type of fuel being put in we have to pay to have the fuel taken away, I have been given permission by the owner to ''help myself'' to as much as I want, I do run my truck on svo/desiel mix,
Question is how much ''dirty'' fuel could I mix in % & would it cause any harm, think the fuel is 70% desiel 30% petrol & there is about 100 gallon at the moment
Thanks in advance

if its only 30% petrol to diesel mix i'd just chuck it straight in
as for diluting SVO it should do it better if theres a little petrol in the mix
you lucky [!Expletive Deleted!] is all i can say
-
I'm not lucky I'm just saving my boss money  , & doing the enviroment a favour by recyling it  ,
But thanks for the answer thats what I was hoping to here :D

I can always find a home for a drum or 2 ;)

I would make one check and that is with the fuel pump manufacturer.
I ran Reo`s, multifuels as they call them, they claim they run on everything but avgas...But you put a less than 50% ratio of diesel in them and the pump dry`s out and goes on strike...Costly.
Thankfully I did my research and never had a problem.
I also got my fuel from a recovery operator, so it was free :D

They mix it in scandinavian countries in the winter to thin out the deisel should fine in a slightly older engine

Going to try a mix of 70% svo & 30% ''free fuel'' & will see what happens
-
If the free stuff is 70% diesel I would happily go 50/50. That gives you
50% SVO
15% Petrol
35% Diesel
In your tank; I have known people run the 200tdi on 50/50 SVO/Diesel and 15% petrol will probably improve that if anything.

Any more than maybe 20% petrol and my Isuzu 1.7 wont run when warmed up. Runs OK cold, but not hot.
Im in the same position as you, I can get diesel petrol mix from work, free of charge, and to be honest, its best kept as parts wash.
IMHO

ok update,
have treid it 70% svo 30% derv/petrol mix & the disco runs fine :D , as an experiment put 50% derv/petrol mix in a petrol punto & that ran ok  so just added some more of the 'mix' to the punto so its 100% 'mix & it runs like a bag of spanners so will have to keep that to a lower ratio, looks like the 'free' fuel can come to some use
47p for svo & 'mix' for free, thats 80ltr tank filled up for £30 :D
Thanks John

John
I used to 10% petrol in a coach i used to run when doing any cold winter work. We used to find it would start ok and run ok but we had to change the fuel filters before going back to 100% derv.
hope this helps you
Man (engine) people told me it would run with a 55% derv petrol mix but i was never brave enough to do it.
