Title: Vitara Front Diff
Post by: marjan on March 31, 2007, 19:50:40
I"ve had a crack in my Vitara front diff at the very narrow bit where the left driveshaft is for ages and have finally bought another off E-bay for £30. Is there any way of strengthening this area as this seems to be a common fault on Vits if they are abused off-road.

Wondered if it would be possible to strengthen it with some ali welding?.

Best bet is to fit a steel axle and 3rd member from a Grand Vitara/Diesel.

If not, I've got a strengthening bracket for the ali axle if you want one? :)

I'll try and post a picture later :)

Here's a picture of the brace fitted to my steel axle.  Works the same for the ali axle :)
