Title: Working Today?
Post by: Bush Tucker Man on April 07, 2007, 11:17:27
So who are the lucky/unlucky ones (depending on how you look at it), apart from me?

I'd wanted the weekend off, as SWMBO & 'Small-Child' are over at the Posh Porta-Cabin, but no amount if pleading & begging could gain that pleasure
No, I wanted some 'P&Q' at home, not a trip to Royston Vasey by-the-Sea

I've got late shifts (14:00 -22:00) today & tomorrow, then a 06:00 - 14:00 on Monday.

Hey ho, off to see all the gardeners who have overdone it, the BBQ'ers who have burnt themselves, do battle with the drunks who have been over-indulging all day, etc.....

I'm enjoying the benefits of teaching - ie, a 2-week easter holiday, although 1 week of that is lost to all the work I have to do for next term.

I thought I was having a day of not doing whatever I wanted today.  Then my mum called.  I'm now fixing the power steering on her Golf.

Being a self employed Pet Food shop keeper I was open yesterday and am today, but will be closed Monday and probably Tuesday.
Today has been hectic, but quietened down now, so I can have my lunch and 10 mins on here.

Working :(

Work every bank holiday thanks to working in a pub, doh. Got monday off from the building site. Silly bar-stewards here at the pub were going to ask me to work all day monday. Yeah like I don't work enough hours in the week as it is, and of course I don't want to spend any time with my girlfriend!

Lovely day too. Still, managed to skive off for a couple of hours yesterday to take my mate out laning. Explored a few lanes I haven't done before. Want to be out today in the sun trying out the new lens for my DSLR that arrived this morning too!

Half way through year 10 GCSE coursework (and getting depressed as regards their inability to follow simple instructions such as "put your work in the order you did it" "page number all the pages" etc). Done Y12 and Y13 last week. Hope to be finished with the y10 stuff by monday.

Supposed to have gone laning today, but after doing a polybush kit on the disco, realised last night I had missed a sleeve off one of the back arms, so had to sort this morning, too late to go out then

My fault  was tired and it was the last one :?

back to work today, but the bonus to working the weekend is that it is double time on Monday.  :D
Can't complain though, as I've been off since last Monday and went out playing on the Solent yesterday. Sunburnt!

Well, I really wish I hadn't been working last night. Mental would be the right word to describe it.

Only a small place, and it was absolutely packed. Full hotel, loads of people in for food, and then on top of that they were doing a fundraising thing for the village fair, which brought in loads of locals we don't normally see.

At times could have done with 3 people behind the bar, but it's that small and awkwardly shaped that you keep tripping up over each other if there's 2 of you, and there's only 1 till.

And judging by the amount of traffic on the A44 outside, I'm not in for a peaceful lunchtime either!

So at least it's not just me

Surprisingly we had no drunks, or garden injuries

Hey ho!, see what this afternoon brings

Had hoped to have this weekend off totally - nope. Got a phone call at 6am this morning to say there were cormorants on the carp lake and quote:

"Could I be an awfully nice chap and go and sort of shoo them off?" (From the owners wife!)

Certainly - in 4 hours after I've had some breakfast and woken up.

The high-light of the afternoon (if you can call it that) was a head injury after an assault & he was a big (ie; muscly) guy.
He almost put the ambulance window through, then it took 3 of us to get him out of it & then to keep him on the trolley for treatment.
Sister almost go kicked several times, one of the security chaps & myself almost got several punches in the face apiece.
Various peoples parentage was remarked upon loudly

I saw him just before I came home up on on of the wards & he was still a bit groggy, but shook my hand & apologised.
Admittedly he didn't really know what he was doing though

Work.... Easter Weekend..... UTTER HELL!!

I got wed and thurs off last week, back in work friday night with a killer hangover.. about 5 minutes into the shift, it all kicks off in the bar. Chairs, tables, glasses, bottles flying everywhere. Bar staff were ordered by myself and security team to lock themselves in the office untill it was over and we did our best to control the situation untill police arrived (around 3 minutes later) 17 arrests. Bar was closed for the night as i didn't see it appropriate to keep the barstaff on after something like that. The rest of the night was quiet until the clubs kicked out and we got our fair share of idiots trying to get a room in the hostel.

Got saturday night off somehow and back in tonite (sunday) Tonight has been nice and quiet, bar was busy, but no trouble.

Lets see how Monday night goes....

Sounds like you had it worse than I did, at least it was only one person for us.

I'm wondering what I'm going back to though, as apparantly all the Pubs in the city-centre were full last night (according to those members of the night-shift who'd passed through on their way in)
