You can render the inside of the fire place that will protect the brick work enough if your using a stove

GAS!!!!!!! wash your mouth out.  :lol:  Logs will be burnt.  We are putting a stainless liner in.

I put a wood burner in my kitchen, pulled the gas flu liner out, blanked off the bottom and bunged in the burner, lovely!
Best thing we ever did, theres nothing quite like sitting in front of a roaring log fire to warm the cockles!
