Title: Decision time
Post by: Lord Shagg-Pyle on April 12, 2007, 13:59:27
Folks
Does anyone have any idea how much of a 200Tdi Disco is interchangable with a 300Tdi e.g axles, gearboxes etc.
The reason I ask is that my old beast has a couple of rotten body/chassis mounts and It seems a very daunting task to repair them.
I'm wondering if it is now time to bite the bullet and say enough is enough.
Needless to say I am feeling a bit naffed off about it. :(

200TDI, LT77, 10 spline everything, if it's not ABS then different CVs etc

300TDi. R380, 24 spline, later style hubs/CVs, bonded windscreen, new dash.

SO possibly the wings
Maybe the bonnet :(

Sorry about the the false alarm. I was on a bit of a downer. However, a morning spent lying underneath the Disco, pondering with a cup of tea and a packet Marlboro ciggies, I then realised that it was not as bad as I thought.
A couple of days welding, did the trick and the old girl has sailed through the MoT, and is back on the road!
Huzzah!

Glad it's not as bad as you thought!

RRB I have a late 200tdi with knackered body work sat in the field and am only keeping it as the engine, gearbox and running gear are all perfect and the shafts and diffs are 24 spline.

I'm having the same problem. Everytime I have another prod around with a screwdriver I am finding more holes. So far only one is anywhere near a mounting point. How much patching can you do though, before its time to say goodbye to her.

Yeap '93 models are a bit of a lottery as to what you get, no-one can give me a definite answer as to what they should be.

If it's only body rot and chassis/running gear is sound . . . . . cut losses . . . . .  build a hybrid
