Title: Adrian Flux= Robbing scum
Post by: frosty on April 13, 2007, 21:49:49
Imagine my surprise when i checked my bank account and found i was £180 down.. why was i £180 down? Because the robbing gits at Adrian Flux decided that although i didnt want to renew my insurance they did and 9 days after i had cancelled it they wanted me to pay for insurance i didnt want and didnt need! Oh how i laughed when the smarmy git on the phone informed me that i should ring back on the 18th and check my funds had cleared in there account and then they would kindly post me a cheque! Brilliant!

Apparently because i didnt tell them within 5 days of my renewal due date they can do this, they sent me a letter saying this, and when did i get this letter? 4 days before my renewal date! pure frickin genius!

What I have learnt from this is that because i set up a direct debit a year ago with the credit agency to pay my last lot of insurance in 3 goes, they can then re-set up the direct debit willy and indeed nilly!

I have had nothing but bad experiences with this lot, although im sure lots of people get on fine with them, but me, i think there conning b*****ds, and if my missus hadnt of talked me out of it there car park would have been knee deep in 30 tonnes of industrial waste!

   Ah rant over!

   Cheers, Rob

They're wrong I think.  If they've made an error with the direct debit, then you should get an immediate refund.  But you need to talk to the bank.

http://www.bacs.co.uk/BPSL/directdebit/generalpublic/yourrights/

Quote
If an error is made by the organisation or your bank or building society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid.

If any payment is made in error, you should contact your bank or building society who are responsible for giving you a full and immediate refund - even if the original error was made by the organisation collecting the payment.

...but I'd have a good shout at one of Adrian Flux's managers just to give them a reason not to do it again.  Otherwise they never learn  :P

Cannot fault Adrian Flux..both my Jeeps are with them...BUT...have heard of others with issues...If they kick up over such matters offer to report them to the insurance ombudsman or do so...generally focusses their thoughts..

They have charged you for a service that you have not purchased.
They have taken your money anyways, this is theft and as such if you call them and inform them that you will be reporting it to the Police you will get your money immediately.
The financial onbuds rubbish is not applicable in this case, it is theft.

I don`t know if I am technically correct, but it has worked for me in the past  ......They just want you to walk down their path, make your own path and walk down it :D

I have insured with them for a couple of years now, and come renewal time they send me a quote through.
So I did the usual thing and rang round and got a cheaper quote. They didn't like when I reminded them that they had sent a note through saying "We will beat any other quote".
They then tried to hit me with a 'direct debit fee' of £30, until I reminded them that they all ready had the details set, so why did they need to do it again?
Lots of mumbles from the other end of the phone, and I got another £30 off! :D
They are b*gge*s.

My ISP when I changed over took money they shouldn't have. I phoned them and they said they were not going to give the money back. I phoned the bank who immediately refunded the money. The ISP did refund the money about 2 months later at which point the bank wrote to say they would take that money back as they had refunded me. Phone the bank ............ there will be no waiting till the 18th with them!

if they have wrongly taken funds under the direct debit scheme, you are entitled to an immediate refund under the indemnity guarantee scheme. suggest a call to your bank on Monday. Do not take no for an answer.

Personally only had great dealling with Adrian Flux, but I guess things can go wrong occassionaly.

I used Flux for a couple of years with the Discovery, & until renewal time on the 110.

I took out a policy with NFU Mutual, at least if there's a problem I can drive over to the office at Lepton (Huddersfield)& sort it out, or go in the opposite direction to the regional HQ at York.

My car's with AF at the moment, but won't be at renewal, as hopefully it will be sold by then! They were by far the cheapest. It's been a long time since I'd used Flux's - my first car was insured by them when they were based in a small shop in King's Lynn. They're quite a bit bigger now! They want £15 every change I make to the policy though, so I've made sure there haven't needed to be any!

The 90's with NFU. I've always had my LR's with them (apart from a classic policy with Peter Best a few years ago), and they've been very, very good at paying out on claims (3 in about 4 years so far...) and I really cannot fault the rest of the service - cover notes sent to dealers when requested etc.

They've been a lot slower in re-claiming any money from the "other" insurance company - the first took just over 12 months, and the second's not been recovered yet - nearly 2 years later... That one's with solicitors, but no one seems to want to pay out. Bl**dy Norwich Union (apparently).

Unfortunately my most recent theft will stay "at fault" as it was "in my custody" when it got stolen - unlike the 300TDi!

Cheers

Ben

I had to go into my local branch of my bank to get my money back buts thats all sorted.

Ive been in touch with the FSA and the very nice lady said thats not the first time shes heard of them doing this and she wouldnt be surprised if they gave me some sort of compensation so ill be going down that route! i wonder if they would pay it in the form of a 12000lb winch? lol

Ive put this on several other forums and the general opinion is use them at your peril and expect to get shafted at some point, especially if you need to make a claim! But im guessing all insurance companies can be like that!

I have heard both good and bad things.

They refused to insure the Audi on the basis it wasnt modified enough. When I did talk them round they wanted £1100 tpft (I pay £300 f/c).

No issues with the bike at all, nice and cheap and paid out fast when I got run over by some daft old bat in a megane.

Mate had no end of trouble after getting clocked by a bus in his clio RSI at the same time someone else on a forum picked a fight with a Golf, and was technically his fault, they argued it pretty hard and it came out that the Golf had no  MOT :)

They just keep sending me snotty letters demanding the keys.  The last four letters have been addressed to me in my married name but the salutation is to my maiden name - who's checking the letters before they sign them????  I'd be on a written warning for that!
