This one (http://www.ultimatestupidity.com/pics/1/diesel/) is a whopping 25,480l. But you'll need a suspension upgrade as it weighs 2,300 tonnes.
-
I regard that as a proper engine; anything much smaller is little more than a toy.
-
Maximum power: 108,920 hp at 102 rpm
REDLIIIIINE
-
So, how long does an oil change take?
-
i want to know how big the oul filter is & also if a spin on version is available

I'd like to see the chain wrench used to get the filter off!
-
No, you just stab a 20 foot screwdriver in the side.
-
didn't Robbie coltrain do a series looking at engines like this and other's?? Mind you i thought this was a good piccie!! 8) 8)
-
It's got nearly enough neddies.
I think I might have to bash the bonnet around and make up an adaptor plate to fit it in the Dakar, though.

Didn't you get that the wrong way round Andy, I think it should have read:

I bet even the starter on that thing is an animal.
Notice how they avoid piston slap by using a crosshead. Proper engineering that is
-
And brake thermal efficiency exceeding 50%
-
50% is pretty outstanding actually.
Crossheads are normal on the big two strokes; one of the many bonuses is that you hardly ever (if ever) need to change the oil. Mind you looking after the oil is a big job as you moniter it continously.
Love the picture; personally I do prefer MAN B&W to Sulzers. I'll see if I can dig out a picture of a Gotherverken; they were wierd; the camshaft was on the outside of the engine!

    that is insane.   what a joke

See if these go in:
-
These are the cylinder heads.
Gotherverken really were mental engines; loads of the moving parts were on the outside.
-
Nice .Do you think that the local halfords doe's a oil filter for it
