Title: Manual to Electric Windows
Post by: seabo on April 19, 2007, 09:01:36
I have a broken 5 door Disco1 and am thinking of tranferring electric windows to my 3dr Disco1 (currently manual)

I know the wiring loom goes to where the swithches go in the centre console but what about the rest?

Is there a difference in the motors/mechanisms between 3 and 5 door models?

What is best way of running electric feeds to motors?  Is it part of the std loom?

Help!!!

Mechanisms are different I think but nothing that's insurmountable.  Wiring would be best stripped ouot of the old car and made up into a stand-alone loom, then fitted to the 3 door.

Have you checked to see if the wiring is already there?
Both myself and discocwk on here have 3 door 300tdi's both of which are wired for rear electric windows, which of course you can't have.

I once looked at doing that with my first Disco (200tdi) and scrapped the idea as I neded to change the whole front loom.
The good news though is that on the Discos the front doors are the same regardless of if the back doors are there or not.
