Title: Front recovery points??
Post by: chris.hunt22 on April 22, 2007, 10:21:17: What is the easiest and cheapest way to fit reliable and safe front recovery points to my disco, I still have the front valance (with fogs in) and am not planning on taking it off, any ideas??

Post by: landroverkeith on April 22, 2007, 10:26:45: you can get some that fit between the valance and down the chassis rail pretty certain frankieboy has a set on his .. might have to trim a little of the plastic out to make em fit though

David Bowyer used to sell them, I know other people do but can't remember who does?

I fitted them with mine still in place, they pick up on the bumper mounts/steering box bolt & a spare mounting point. (if I remember correctly)

They're far more user-friendley than groping about trying to get the rope/strap/shackle/winch-hook on a JATE ring

They're very discreet

Post by: Frankie-Boy on April 23, 2007, 10:22:11: I agree with BTM, I have "Jack Mates" and as Keith said, they protrude through the valance (with a little bit of trimming), but once fitted the trimmed area doesn't show that much, all you have showing is a chunk of steel with a hole to fit a shackle through and if you have a high lift jack you can slot it straight in.

Here's a couple of pic's of mine, the second one shows how its bolted to the chassis rails.

I hacked mine off with an angle grinder, so I could fit the bash plate with built in recovery points

Post by: chris.hunt22 on April 23, 2007, 18:08:23: Thanks for that, they look like what i'm after, so, does anyone know where I can get some from (can't be &Ã‚Â£sed slaving over a grinder to make some!!) As for the valance I like the discreet off roader look and with the lift and big tyres I haven't bashed it yet!!

Plus.... if you buy the relevant attachement, they can also be used as a front mounted trailer manoeuvring point
(useable on either side)

Post by: Range Rover Blues on April 24, 2007, 00:39:43: You can fit a steering guard and keep the valance, after all I didn't fit one becasue I intend to drive into rocks.

I think Wizard does them, if not Bullfog or Guardian might.

Post by: karlo on April 24, 2007, 08:42:02: Jack mates or similar tend to cost around Ã‚Â£60 from various places which seems expensive to me, i'm sure people have different veiw's on the cost and this is just my opinion. (no arguments please i'm sure some people are more than willing to pay the amount and think its justified)
