Don't know about factory or aftermarket, though I have seen them done as you have suggested with a SWB hard top leaving the rest of the 109 with the pickup. I'm sure I've seen one with a working rear door into the loadspace, though this is obviously not very practical - a cat-flap may be though!

You may be better extending a truck cab, or rather using parts from one. The roof in this layout may be tricky, as may be a custom job. Take some measurements of someone's swb truck cab, and of someone else's hardtop, then compare the measurements to your 109. You may think a hardtop comes too far back. In any case, don't forget - Measure twice, cut once.

Do you already have a station wagon, or three seater?
What's your intended use of the crew cab - carrying passengers, or just a larger more useful truckcab for secure storage?

It has been done!  Not by Rover though (unless they made a prototype at some time which wouldn't surprise me.)

The streched truck cab I think you'll agree looks very tidy and I think much more profesional than a SWB roof would.  Also if your good at fitting a rear bulkhead to a SW tub as with this example you end up with a really good finish.  I'd emagine if the factory did one this is how it'd look!

I guess rather than make a roof you could fit a 110 roof and windscreen but that wouldn't looks so good.  I think there are also some fiberglass roofs avalable on eBay but I don't think the pannel fit was great and they are pricy for what they are.

the want for a crew cab is mainly for extra secure storage whilst keeping the pickup ability. and more visability than you get with a LWB hardtop....

i deffinetly think an extended truck cab is in order..... not really worried about a back door.

im picking up a swb series III at some point this week, complete with truck cab so ill let people now how it goes....
