Title: Rattle in engine bay
Post by: Horness on April 28, 2007, 03:24:35
Picked up a new rattle in the engine bay from this tonight.

Sounds like rattle is coming from under the black cover.

...what is it? ...and what does it mean when it sounds like 2 skeletons fighting in a tin can?

Apologies if I don't reply tonight... I'm off to bed now.

Advice etc., as always, appreciated.
Thanks

It has an electric 'clutch' that can sound like a skeleton in a tin can if its 'chattering' as in trying to lock/unlock constantly - does it make the noise with the air con on or off?......

stageonesimmo - it's making the noise with the air con off.

Does this mean I could just get a shorter aux drive belt and disconnect it?  It ran out of gas ages ago anyway.

Thanks

Yes but, it has a different belt tensioner and you can't buy the pulley on it's own anymore so it's £40 plus the belt to take the airconn pump off.

Thanks - that may be cheaper than repairing the aircon pump though.
