Title: Where would you go? Have caravan + week off work
Post by: spy on May 06, 2007, 20:14:11
We were going to go to cornwall at the end of the month (thurday to thursday with the bank holiday in the middle) as I have a week off work.  Tourer all sorted and ready.

Now, I been to cornwall loads of times and love the place but im tempted to go somewhere else for a change!  Anyone got an suggestions for favourite campsites and places to visit?  Have a 4 month old baby and wont be going offroading :( so that doesnt come in to it really.  I am near st helens merseyside and dont mind going upto about 300 miles.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Mike

Avimore is nice, you may encounter a few midges though  :?

We always go to Betws y Coed in North Wale, we dont have a van but got a club cottage in Capel Curig.

I Betws there is a very nice camp site call Riverside, it very central and plenty of things for the kids to do :D

www.riversidecamping.co.uk

A lot closer; easier to travel, save a lot in fuel that you can spend when you get there.

A really nice site as well.

Mike you really need to book ASAP as good sites are filling up fast.
If you get stuck, I know a secret location, good small site, no website, so dosnt get too busy, clean toilets, shower. next to a small shallow river in a small village with a good pub and cafe, 5 mins drive from good beaches £9 per van per night inc leccy, PM me for his No
Its near Criccieth and Abersoch.

When holidaying in Croyde, found this site overlooks the beach at Putsborough cracking beach, you can walk for miles all the way to Woolacombe.

I would go to a small temporary site run by the CC&C down near Ross on Wye. It is in a very little vilage called Foy. It is right on the river bank of the Wye (when I mean bank I mean 2 car widths away from the bank!!) the only other man made thing you can see is the other caravans and cars around you!

The field is on 2 levels. Your high enough up from the water not to be worried about flooding either!!

any more info just ask.

Oh and I will be there overthe bank hols sat n sun. Thats put you off now I bet!!! Dont know what it is like for byways but I know it is local to Ross, Hereford and Hay on wye which are all really nice places to visit. Also not too far from Wales either and the cost in Wales.
