I have decided I should really do something about my inner wings before they completely fall victim to the old tin worm. I have my own MIG welder and can weld in a very amateurish way! The largest hole is about 50mm² What is the best way of tackling the repair:
Buy pattern replacement inner wings and cut old ones completely out
Buy some 2mm sheet and angle and ‘patch’ up the worst areas
Take to a professional welder and get him to sort it out
Use another method like pop riveting or bonding with steel or aluminium sheet
Advice much appreciated!!

get yourself some 2mm steel sheet cut it to shape leaving a reasonable amount of metal over the edge of the hole, tack it in place then weld it into place in short sections( so as not to distort the metal too much) until its completed welded in without any gaps in it then cover it in a [!Expletive Deleted!] load of underseal on both sides,
thats what id do anyway, infact ive done it.
id say if youve got a welder and you sort of ish no how to weld give it a good go, then grind off all the messy bits and then underseal will make it look an ok job wen it comes to mot time,
as far as i know (which i dont know a lot, if you were to pop rivet it i dont think i would pass an mot, but i really dont know, someone else will put you wright on that, hope that helps, and makes some sort of sense

pop riveted will pass mot if done right. Mine has new sections in ali.. i have undersealed before fitting then pop rivd in palce the undersealed again....at least i know the new bits wont rust.

there you go you could pop rivet it, its all upto you depends if you feel confident to weld it or if youd rather just pop rivet it, which would proably be a lot easier! and likely to cause less damage! lol

I used a couple of pop rivets to hold the patches in place and then welded them when I did mine
