I have just aquired a TD5 intercooler and the plan is to fit it into my 300tdi Disco. My question is a simple one ; has anybody already done this (I'm sure I'm not the 1st) and is there any advice that I should consider. Any pictures detailing the fitting would be a massive help as would reccomendations for suppliers of the bits and pieces needed. Regards Pete

I'm sure that this has been posted beofre but I think the answer is no, the rear seats are too long and also the fixings are all wrong as well, the rear seats can be put in but its expensive for the conversion kit.
I could be wrong though.

I assume Gareth is answering a different post...unless you are planning to put the TD5 intercooler in the passenger compartment!
I'm sure I have heard of it being done before, but like you I would like to see some details of the fitting. Does anyone know if the TD5 intercooler has a significantly larger cooling capacity than the 300TDi intercooler?

The TD5 intercooler is a full width unit, the problem being that it has an outlet at each end whereas a 200 & 300 tdi have both the outlets at the N/S.If you have a slim line winch bumper it will be more difficult.
Ultrahunter has fitted one to his 200tdi and managed to fit it far enough forward so he could run the pipe from the o/s between the radiator and intercooler so then both the pipes are on the same side.
If you can't do this (don't have the space) you will need to move the radiator to a central position, which means removing the fan cowling and getting the oil cooler pipes extendedYou would then need to remove the viscous fan and fit an electric one,and then manufacture some pipes to connect the intercooler.Oh and also make the brackets to fit mount the intercooler. All in all a bit of a job which involves a bit of cutting of metal ect.
I have one to fit to my 200 tdi but haven't had time yet and am considering buying a purpose made intercooler (full width) instead as by the time you've bought the intercooler pipes, electric fan and modified oil cooler pipes there probably won't be much in it cost wise.
just my view
Neil....
P.S Ultra hunter did post a few pics of his fitted,if you can find them

Got a few pics here of the conversion.
If you dont have aircon its easy to do roomwise.
Hope it helps.
EDIT theres over 2x capacity in the td5 ic than the tdi unit.
