for those who use msn

the beta for msn 7 is out

ive got it installed today and added some tweaks someone sent me in work and now you can have more than one conversation in one window (tabbed conversations) etc

well worth the look

i will see if i can dig out the patches tomorrow if anyone is interested.

There are much better options than MSN.

Make the move to LINUX  -

Don't fund a monolopy that doesn't give you choice and forces you to upgrade every year.

Have a look at JDS from Sun a fully compatable integrated set of software for PC desktop / laptop that runs Linux, which includes mail, calendar, office products etc ... the list goes on.

My Sony laptop has been running it for the beset part of the year.

hmmm... I see we have a Linux evangelist in the house...   shame about the lack of harware support, shortage of certain types of application, and pityful documentation that exists really.  :-(

the problem i have is that i need access to the office 2003 suite of products (visio/project/outlook etc) and nothing on linux at the moment can support these fully

crossover office does stuff like outlook but still aint the same

try looking at ximian evolution for mail and calendar, there is a connector to exchange available from Novell now they own the product.

still means switching on the web interface on exchange on which they arent  doing in the forseeable future

I agree with the lack of software and hardware support.

but compare it today to where it was a few years ago - the popularity is gaining pace so it will be interesting to see where it ends up.

I've not looked at the crossover office stuff since codeweavers have rebadged and remarketed everything. - I'll take a look

Unless evolution has been completely rewritten and replaced all their team members from three years ago, they don't make bargepoles big enough for me to even think about touching it....  I was not impressed when I was trying to find out something and got rather  more involved than I wanted to :(

problems found so far...

when having a conversation with more than one contact, it crashes msn

also it seems to add you as a contact in your own contact list  :shock:
