300tdi What sort of psi reading should i be getting at tickover and half throttle??
Haynes not to helpful as it just says between 25.0 - 55.0 at normal operating temp at operating speeds.
In which case what is my operating speed?

Oh come on someone must have a clue?
Dont any of you have an oil pressure gauge?
i need to know whether to take engine out and strip it, but its raining hard now so no rush
-
From the workshop manual:-
With engine running at idle check oil pressure,
which should read 1.76 bar (25.87 lbf/in2).
Hope this helps a little
-
Thanks, going by that its an engine out job.
At idle getting about 5psi
-
Again from the manual:-
If pressure is low it can be caused by the
following:-
Thin or diluted oil.
Low oil in sump.
Choked oil strainer.
Faulty oil pressure relief valve.
Excessively worn or damaged oil pump
displacement gears.
Excessive crankshaft bearing clearance.
Sorry if this teaching you to suck eggs, good luck

bought it like this, apparently camshaft bearings.
but wanted to check pressure myself.
