:? I have been offered a set of unimog portal axles to use put my 90, but will they fit easily
Is there modification needed to the axle or my chassis?
-
I would suspect the answer to that question is a definite yes.
The suspension components are different between the two vehicles, so you will need to make the two bits compatible.
-
How would i make them compatable ?
Replicate the landrover mounts onto the mog axles?
-
Mmmmm.... Portal axles, Marge....
I've always assumed you need to do something clever to stop the torque effect of the portal part from twisting the axle. There are a few LRs out there with portal axles, including a Disco somewhere in the UK, but I've never looked close enough to suss it out.
Keep us posted, this sounds an interesting project.

Take a look here :

Should give you some idea of what is involved.

Thanks Tim. :D
That site gave interesting reading.
I will collect them and figure it out.
I also found an old mog sitting in a field about 5 mile from me.
The farmer who owns it said he might sell it if the whole thing
was bought not just the axles.
Anyone interested?

Hello,
where in the country is it, as i need a new project to play with.
I think the rear axle would be easyer to fit with front radius arms, and a panard rod, rather than the A frame, and just look at that welding, the axle must have been like a banana when they finished. :?
