Police are requesting vehicle crime victims not to go near the vehicle so that they can send forensics teams to collect evidence  Yeah-Right, there aint enough of them to police major towns as it is.... how are they gonna manage to attend the vast amounts of vehicle crimes in major cities?

the police do nothing these days

at the moment i cant call our local police, there has been a murder 2 streets away from us an old lady in her 70's police sealed off street for about 2 weeks as well as doing door to door enquiries and monitoring the people's movement on the street as well!
2 months ago the murder happened and about 2 weeks ago the police came up to our street and had to get personal descriptions of every body over 12 not a nice experience
what makes me mad is the amount of money police and fireservices get to the local councils out of your council tax bill !!!!!!!!
we need more police on the beat not more council office's with loads of wasted space that needs heating best shut up now

Co-incidentally, our old neighbour was arrested on Friday after murdering his wife
(not at this house, but our previous address)
It was a real 'bolt from the blue'

Reported the Chavs using the Industrial Estate as a racetrack on Monday, no helmets/underage caning it round here while some guy in another unit acted as a pitstop.
Phoned 101, was told they take this very seriously and someone would be round in an hour or two. They turned up on Sat when no-one was here :S
I know they try but its just seems like one big joke to people trying to get help. As for not going near veichles till SOCO arrive, they took about 3 days to come and look at the last car I had done over :(

found this on the bbc about the police and hitting target but this is what your council tax money pays for and looks good on paper at the home office but the truth is stranger than you think some terrible crimes here you will be shocked at what the police have to put up
The federation, which represents 130,000 rank-and-file officers, has published a dossier of "ludicrous" cases it claims are the result of Home Office targets.
The cases include:
# A man from Cheshire who was cautioned for being "found in possession of an egg with intent to throw"
# A child in Kent who was arrested after removing a slice of cucumber from a sandwich and throwing it at another youngster
# A West Midlands woman arrested on her wedding day for criminal damage after her foot slipped on her accelerator pedal and her vehicle damaged a car park barrier
Understandably, when the public hears about this they ask 'What the hell is going on?'
Police Federation spokesman
# A child from Kent who was arrested for throwing cream buns at a bus
# A 70-year-old Cheshire pensioner who was arrested for criminal damage after cutting back a neighbour's conifer trees
# An officer in the West Midlands who was told to caution a man for throwing a glass of water over his girlfriend
# Two children from Manchester who were arrested for being in possession of a plastic toy pistol
A spokesman for the federation said such cases were a result of officers being "so busy chasing targets and securing ticks in boxes".

A guy I know found his car after it was nicked, police told him not to touch it, they are sending out the forensic team.

In the Met the forensic team have to attend all car crimes.
They try to attend most car crime within a few hours of it being reported but in some cases it may take up to 24hrs. It all depends on which borough, what other crimes they have that shift etc, etc.

Should have told them you thought you heard a gun-shot, they'd attend a lot quicker then.
After all, you could always realise afterwards that it was one of the cars back-firing.
If a few chavs wet themselves after being surrounded by an Armed Response Squad.. . so be it

The local chavs tried to steal my fathers car from outside my house one morning in the early hours. I chased them but I only managed to get hold of one of their shoes. the police were here within minuites and they took the shoe for forensic testing and the forensic people were here first thing in the morning to take prints from the car so they do get on the case quickly sometimes.
I think the problem is that sometimes there is not enough police free to actually deal with the amount of crime rather than doing paperwork about it

Oh well, here we go again! The Press has done a great job of completely unbiased reporting as usual and once again everyone starts on a 'lets have a go at the Police'
Whats one of the posts on here? Oh yes. "The Police do nothing these days"
Really? So the officer that got killed the other day answering a call to a domestic was doing nothing was he?
Sharon Beshenevsky was 'doing nothing' when she was shot when answering a report of an armed robbery?
A female police officer was 'doing nothing' when impaled with a pitchfork when she was trying to stop some lunatic from throwing things on to a motorway?
Get your facts right.
I could go on and on about how many times Police officers, Fire crews, Medical Staff put their lives on the line for YOU, the public and to see things like that written on a forum, is extremely insulting to those who have died, been injured or assaulted in the line of duty.
You may say I am biased, maybe I am, but having done this job for a great number of years I have seen my fair share of the idiotic situations that the public get themselves into, and all I will say is if you think we do nothing, then get off your backside, join the Police as a Constable, a Special or a Police Community Support Officer or any of the other myriad of jobs and then when you have had to put up with abuse, insults, injury and idiocy from the outside and bureaucratic incompetence and mis-management hoisted on us by an unknowing Government, then perhaps you may just look at things with a different view.

Think positive...
If the police are busy charging kids with having a fully loaded cucumber slice at least they won't notice folk sneaking down RB's

Lets face it, the vast majority of the men and women in our police force do a fantastic job given the resources available to them, just as do the majority of nurses, school teachers and most other civil servants.
The issue is not the individuals doing the job, but the ridiculous levels of management and bureaucracy involved. Would the police be happier arresting thieves or murderers rather than kids with toy guns, you bet. They want society to be a better place - I can't see any other reason for signing up for the job given the level of personal risk. For that, I am extremely grateful.
(Now can you please stop sitting in camera vans giving me speeding tickets?)
-
Personally, I have a lot of respect for the actual Policemen and women.
My next door neighbour was a Special Constable for a long time, and has now joined the force permanently. These people have to deal with some bloody rude and downright abusive people, and always have to remain respectful and polite, or else they'll be accused of 'brutality'.
Then, they have to take orders and abide by rules of people that have no idea what they are on about, and are just currying up to the press.
I'll stop now.

I think you'll find this is the view most people share, although enough people groan about the police the blame isnt always aimed at them, certainly in my case it wasnt. I know the resources they have in this area and the delays are down to the fact theres a handfull of vans dealing with more crimescenes than a whole fleet could.
As Ex Ambulance I have every sympathy for those on the front line having had abuse/objects/pellets flung at me while doing my job.

NHS management seems to be equally target driven & out of touch with reality.
I'll hold my hand up & admit that my comment; re - gun-shots was meant in a slightly humourous vein in order to guarantee a Police response.
As for staff being assaulted, my collegues have been on the receiving end far too often!
(the last I know of,was an attempted strangulation of a Nurse, the scrote attempted to resist arrest, so was 'batonned')
I have myself have had a broken nose, several kicks & punches, taken a knife off a (thankfully) compliant druggie - I never told SWMBO about that, she'd go bonkers!
Every Friday & Saturday evening can be like a battle-ground, & as for the tales the older staff, Paramedics & attending Police Officers tell us

i want to join the police.... 8)
gived them a break... they doing their job just like you and i.

I attended an RTA where a whole family were killed and burnt alive... now even if you think we so a crap job how would like to deal with that? Sorry it bugs me a bit we are paid to save you backsides not kiss them. I've been spat at, kicked, threatened, had a gun pointed at me the list goes on and on... the reason I do it is because every now and then I make a difference.
We are not perfect but we do the best we can and sometimes we are tasked to do things, like it or not.

got a mate who is a police officer, and to be honest some of the jobs he'd done recently deserves respect.. i couldnt do it. alan.....

totally pointless with most land rovers anyway,
Mate had a load of his work stuff knicked from his land rover, he's tree surgin so chain saw's and stuff.
Police tunred up, couldn't take any forensics as the thief had taken the mud away on his hands rather than leaving any,
so make sure your cars are nice and clean if you want them to do this,
His wasn't that muddy, just winter driving!!!

I have a best mate that was called to a potential Fatality, little metro scrunched up into a lil ball after being clouted by a van. He sat there while the paramedics tried to get the poor girl out and they were talking about the fact that it was very unlikeley she'd even make it to Southampton General.
Only to find out it was his daughter!
Thankfully she survived, no-one thought she would but she did and she's as right as rain now, well a little bit madder than she was but its hard to tell with some people :)
As for the rest, crime has gone up, resources have been reduced, the NHS and Police have had to bend over and take it and ecah time some little crote gets away with it they realise they can push things a little further. You guys need to be dealing with the real crime rather than the poor guy that got done for dropping a wotsit just so you can make the stupid quotas. I think people are well aware that the issue is resource starvation and not you guys on the front line. I know morale suffers on the front line when you dont have the time and ability to respond to things that you know need to be dealt with where as some nameless manager is telling you that theres no point.
I think probobly one of the things Mr Tony is going to be remebered for us utterly shafting public services.

Hold on, guys. It is not fair to blame the bobbies on the beat for decissions over which they have little, if any, say.
Blame the Police Authoritys, the Chief Constables and their primadonna staff, or blame the bloody Home Office pen-pushers and politicians.
At least we should acknowledge that, given the resources they are given and the limitations they are imposed, the foot soldiers of the Police do their utmost best (there are exceptions, but in most cases they do) to carry their duty.

Staffs?
Staffs certainly in SOT Division have Civvy Forensic vehicle examiners who do just that all day long. There are also some bobbies trained of which I'm one.
Other forces will differ as do Division's within Forces.

We've done the SOCO course for car crime. It helps some times.
